So, If I am understanding this correctly...
$12 per person in cabin per night = $ 24 pp for cruise ( my basic math skills are astonighing aren't they?):teacher:
Now, can I call ahead to DCL to pay this ahead of time? Or does it just get charged to cabin on embarkation? Also, does DCL just give it to the staff or do we get something ( envelope etc. ) with the credit in it to hand out???:confused3

That is the correct math.

You have 2 options...if you wish to have things paid for up-front, or want to take advantage of 6-months no interest on a Disney Visa, then you can call ahead and pre-pay your tips. Option 2 - I understand Disney is now auto tipping - you will receive a letter (at port check-in or in your stateroom, not sure) indicating DCL will charge your onboard account for the recommended tip UNLESS you go to Guest Services and have it changed.

You can change the auto-tip amount or a pre-paid amount at any time - either through Guest Services or with cash. On the last night, you will receive tip envelopes and coupons indicating the tip amount paid for each position. Just put the coupon (and additional cash if you wish) into the proper envelope and deliver to your servers and stateroom host.

You can call ahead to prepay the gratuities.
Or
They will be added to your bill upon embarkation. In both situations your room steward will put the tickets and envelopes in your stateroom for you to personally hand out.
