Just saw this on allears:

Automated Ordering Machines are now being used at Pecos Bill in the Magic Kingdom. You can place your order for any item on the menu using these machines if you are not using cash (i.e., Credit Card, Room Charge, Disney Dining Plan, and Disney Gift Cards/Disney Dining Cards). The machines cannot handle special orders, although with Pecos Bill's extensive topping bar, there should be less need for special orders here than other counter service restaurants.

that sounds interesting........thanks for the update

I Love It. Can't Wait To Try It.

Very cool :thumbsup2 But that's so weird, DH and I were just talking about how convenient it would be counter places had machines like that - although we were wondering about the human error side of it. Now they have to train CM's to handle the upset customers who mess up their own order. "N'uh Uh, I didn't do that, nope, it's the machine's fault!" C'mon, you know that's gonna happen.

Captain Cooks at the Polynesian already has a system like this. I wonder if we will see this slowly expand.

They have this ordering system at the Test Pilot Grill (?) in California Adventure...it works great!

We used the system at the Poly last week, albeit on a much smaller scale, and it worked like a charm. Wonder if PB's is going to hand out pagers like they do at Capt. Cooks?

Now we know how they free up CM's to monitor the seating area :rotfl:

Its all in the DI$NEY experience $$$$$$$ I feel bad for the CM's who are now out of a job
We all know that soon even the people who monitor the seating will also like Magic disappear ...........

I love using that kind of automated system, but my only problem is people who can't figure it out and wind up holding up the line for long periods, pushing buttons randomly.

I wonder if it will allow you to order that extra bun for splitting your double burger...:lmao:

Good point Will.

I am all for anything that will improve efficiency and generally like utilizng self service kiosks, checkouts, etc (RedBox, Grocery stores, ATMS, etc). However, when you have someone who can't figure it out or is trying to utilize the servce for something that it is not designed for (paying cash, special orders) and slowing it down for everyone else.

I have used these at DL and they work well for the most part.
The ones at DL take cash and last time my $20 got caught in the machine and it took 20 minutes to fix it.
I feel bad for people who are not good with modern technology (like my Dad),
they hate this kind of thing.
