Automated Check In?

Can anyone tell me about their experience using this? Is it better to do online check in in advance or skip and head to the front desk upon arrival? We usually stay at the Pop when it's just DH and I. We enjoy going to the front desk and talking to a CM while checking in. We even got beads when we stayed at POFQ. I tried online check in once at Pop (when it was just a seperate line at the desk) and we ended up with none of our room requests.

This trip we are staying at AKL Kidani for our group of 6. How does this work do you skip the front desk all together and get notified on a smartphone?

When you do your online check in, there is a spot to tell Disney what time of day you will be arriving. From what folks have reported, a few hours prior to that time they receive a text with their room number. Once you know that number, you can go straight to your room. If you really count on the CM interaction, I would suggest not doing the online check in and wait till you actually get there.

Don't believe everything a CM says third party. We did online check in, got there before we said and still got a great pixie dust room in preferred but still pool view at POR. It was great!
