So excited!! Just ordered my DD5 princess: a princess t-shirt at Zazzle with her name and date on it. I plan to surprise her with it on the first morning at Disney and get autographs on it whe we do lunch at Cinderella's castle. Also found the rainbow colored Bic permanent markers today :) Has anyone done something like this and also asked the characters to sign an autograph book? I don't want to be a bother and take up extra time, but would love to have this for her as well as the autographs in her little memory book! We're just 21 days away, hooray!!

I saw a family with boonie hats, and they were covered with autographs. That seemed like such a great idea.

I think it would be fine to have both autographed....Or maybe your daughter could have the shirt autographed while you get her memory book atographed for her. KWIM?

Also, they will not autograph her shirt if she is wearing it.

Yes, we do this every time we go. Just make sure the markers are big enough for the characters that have to wear big gloves to use. We use a big Sharpie with a point on it and that seems to work well. Like the poster above said, they WILL NOT sign it on anyone. We took embroidery hoops and used those to hold the shirt tight for the characters to sign. It worked like a charm. You just keep moving the hoop around on the shirt. We actually got better signatures on the shirt than in the books. I think it was because the characters could hold the big sharpie better than a little pen. I can take pics of the ones we just did if you would like to see them. :)

Thanks, Eeyore's Tiara, I would love to see pics! :)

A friend who did the Disney cruise a year or so ago had a great idea. Instead of a t-shirt, she had the characters sign a pillowcase. She said "the kids will outgrow the shirt, but you never outgrow a pillowcase!" What a neat thing to display on their bed (not sleep on though) as an extra pillow!

I am considering this for our November trip!

Here are some pics of the shirt. I'm sorry I was off the computer for a couple of days. :) They look better on than on the hangers. You can see the autographs better. I buy them a little big so they can wear them for quite awhile. They absolutely love wearing them on the plane home. They feel special.

I let my kids move the hoop around on the shirt. If I would have done it they would have been more uniform. But the kids liked doing it themselves. :) The autographs that look fuzzy are because of the camera and not the actual autograph.

I love the way they are all scattered around, that is more Disney and fun! What an awesome idea! My DD will turn 5 on our trip in Jan. so I just might have to do that for her! Thanks for sending the pics

You're very welcome. They still have their shirts from 2000 that we had autographed. I bought them big so they were able to wear them for years. And now they get to keep them for their kids. :goodvibes Wearable keepsakes. :)

the shirts look great! i might have to do the shirt, pillowcase, and autograph book on my trip next year, which will be my senior trip! ha! my parents swear im six years old :)

Just tell them you have already learned the secret of life and that it is to have joy in whatever you do. :teeth:

Just wanted to say I LOVE this idea and we may do it thisyear..we have the Disney shirts too!

Anyway my question is can you use a regular sharpie? Will this be okay washed?

Also I saw on one thread that someone was using fabric markers..would be this better?

Thanks!

This is just my opinion, the fabric markers I have tried in the past and even recently tend to spread out on fabric if they shoot out too much pigment. You would need to test them before taking them with you. The sharpie stays where it is put and gives you a clean signature.

If you are wondering about different colors, I do believe the sharpies come in a bunch of colors. The shirts that I have washed, I just make sure to wash them in cold water and hang them to dry. It makes the shirt and signature last longer. One has been thrown in the dryer before, and it didn't suffer too much damage, but it did make the shirt look a liitle more worn. It doesn't seem to erase the signature, but it makes it look less sharp like a tshirt does when you wash it. It is a permanent marker and they mean it!

The larger the sharpie, the better the signature. We used the big oval shaped sharpie and the characters were able to hold onto it better. You have to take the lid off for them because of their gloves!

I hope this helps! :goodvibes

I just got the Zazzle shirt I ordered for DD! It looks great and the shirt is very heavy weight cotton (Hanes Beefy T). I almost don't want to get anything written on it, it looks so nice, but I know the autographs will make it even more special! I love the green shirts a previous poster shared with us! :thumbsup2 I think we'll start with princess autographs and then see how much room is left--kid shirts look so little! We need a big mama XL to get everybody's signature we see :rotfl: !
