Autograph Ideas, other than books:)

I came up with large letters. You could spell anything you want with them. I am spelling DISNEY, but you could do your last name, child's name whatever you want. I got them at JoAnn's Fabrics they have wood and paper mache. I am using paper mache covered with paper to make them the colors I want (red, white, black) My plan is to take one letter per day to whatever park we are going to. On the back of the letter I will write the date we took it and to what park...

I like this idea... Very cute! That would be easy to carry around and easy for the characters to sign. I may steal this one!

Question in regard to the photo mat(s)... How in the world do you keep them from getting bent or dirty? Also, what size(s) have you done? I am a huge picture taker and thought of doing this before but I assumed it would be difficult to keep the mat from getting bent or ratty looking. Thanks..

so i am taking my 9 month old niece for her first trip to Disney in December.. and i will be taking one of her white onesies and putting something like Baby's First Disney Trip on the front and then having all the characters sign it!! but i do like the idea of the poster you can put on the wall.. or the mickey vinylmation.

Great Idea! Just remember when you get it signed to make sure your niece is not wearing the onesie so that the characters can sign it

And if you get the characters just to sign the front you can then later frame it also.

Or better yet, get two of the same and just have characters sign the front on one and the back on the other so that there is enough room, then you can frame that or put it in a shadow box or something with pictures and her Disney ticket and other little souvenirs.

There is some one here on the DIS whose daughters carried around large messenger bags that everyone signed. She posted some pictures here and they looked great!!

I think you might be talking about me. I purchased the Disney Messenger bags off of Disney.com spring of 2008... personalized them with names... carried them around the parks... had each character sign them. The characters were a little afraid, at first, but the more autographs we had the less afraid the characters were of "ruining the bag". My only disappointment was the messenger bags (the original ones, not the ones they sell currently) were really poorly made, and have since had to be retired. THe insides totally fell apart.

These bags were always (ALWAYS) carried empty - the girls were not meant to be pack mules... occasionally, they would put their sweatshirts inside if they were hot.

We also carried one cheap disney store white T-shirt with us every day for characters to sign, they were gifts for my daycare kids when we got home. Some of the kids wore them, some of them framed them (and another shot of dd's bag)...

I have examples of the pages in my PTR. The characters really seemed to enjoy it and it's a keepsake my daughter can show her own children one day.

A neighbor of ours gave DS a homemade music box with It's a Small World as the song when you lift the lid. I'm sure you could buy a premade wooden box at a craft store and take Sharpies or paint pens and then put a clear coat to protect the autographs when you get home. If you wanted to add the music you could buy the litttle insert and add it. Also the box could store a mini album with photos from your trip.

Do you happen to know where they found the music box? It's a Small World is my DD favorite! She make us sing it every night!

Thank you, thank you. The kids and I were just thinking about autographs the other day. Daughter wanted the individualized autograph cards she saw on the Disigns Board and son wanted to do a hat or shirt. I was afraid hers would get bent and be a lot to carry when we might not get nearly that many signatures. My only concern with son's idea was that he might not wear it when we got home because we will be 10 and may decide that's too "baby" once he's back in the "real world."
Well, I Love the idea with the wooden letters from the craft store. I've already mentioned this to the kids and they love it too. Small, portable, relatively unbreakable. PERFECT! We haven't decided what to spell yet, either their names or "Disney 2010" or whatever. I'm thinking about creating a shadow box with these, maps, souvies, etc...when we get home.

My kids love those big storybook collection books and that's a really cute idea! We may have to 'steal' that one The only thing is those books are really heavy but I really think they would get a kick out of it!

I love the idea of a wooden box and the letters-so cool. What I did for this year was take pictures of my daughter with the characters from our previous trips and had a book made at artscow.com. I just did one photo per page and left lots of room for them to sign it. I think the characters will really get a kick out of it. I cant take credit for the idea though, someone else had done it on here.

They are a little heavy but SO worth it. We just shoved it in the stroller and forgot about it. We brought a backpack too just in case. There are so many of those hardcover books too. A Christmas one just came out that I am seriously considering since we are going to the Christmas party. Decisions decisions!

I'm thinking of doing something I saw posted on a thread like this. We've gone 3 times in the past 2.5 years so we have plenty of pictures of our girls with characters. I figure I'll make photo books of my girls with the characters. Each character will have it's own page and then I'll add some plain pages at the back for characters that they've never seen. They can then get the characters to sign their own picture of themselves with my daughters.

The only down side I can see to this is that I know we won't see every character that we've seen in the past (ex. we won't be going to 1900 Park Fare this time so we won't see Cinderella's step-sisters or step-mother). Do I include them in the book?

I decided to make posters (11x14") for the characters to sign for our upcoming trip. We're going in October, so these have a Halloween theme. I printed up 2 of each poster (1 of each kind per kid), and we'll have the characters sign the middle. I have an 12" tall tube in which I will carry them while we walk around. These are obviously personalized to the characters I expect that we will see, based on our touring plans, ADRs, etc.

I like the idea of bringing a story book. I'm going to try to find a light one about Lilo and Stitch and have them sign it at our character breakfast.

Plus, it would be a nice item for a teacher, if you know a teacher that likes Disney, get them a book signed by a character (Like a Winnie the Pooh book signed by Pooh and the gang) for their classroom.

We are also doing an autograph book and I'll carry a pillowcase for siggys.

last time we went to WDW I wanted an easy way to keep track of the autographs my kids were collecting. I also wanted to make it easy for the characters to handle.
I went to Wal-Mart and purchased the spiral bound index cards. The cards were multicolored and perforated for easy removal from the spirals. The books seemed to be a good size for the characters hands, even those with really big gloves. We used fat, retractable, permanent markers - again easy to use by the gloved-ones and we didn't have to keep track of the caps. The markers come in lots of colors and when combined with the colored cards it made for a cool and unique suvinier.

Buy the large Mickey Vinylmation and have the characters autograph it using ultra thin sharpies. Some website had photos of theirs and it was very cool looking.

I just posted pics on another part of the board but figured I'd post them here too since people are talking about them ... here's my Vinylmation Mickey from our trip this summer.

Buzz was the only one who had a problem with this because of his huge gloves ... he usually uses a stamp but did sign our Mickey on the bottom (I forgot to take a picture of that tho).
I keep telling my husband that there is still room for more signatures ... we need to go back soon!

i recently went and wanted autographs for my scrapbook but didnt want to use plain index cards or have to create a book out of cardstock. well at walmart i found a scrapbook paper book about the size of an actual autograph book. it was 24 sheets and just the right size. i plan on cutting out the autographs and putting them next to the photos in my scrapbook.

as for the stepmother and stepsisters i found them in belles story place while in the MK one day.
