We are planning a Family Trip (8 adults and 5 children) in the Fall of 2012 and I want to make my five grandchildren each their own autograph book. I would like any and all suggestions that would make these special.
Thanks.:yay:

tips for autograph books:

autograph areas smaller then 4x4 are hard for the head characters to sign (Mickey, pluto, minnie, etc), and face characters (especially princesses like big spaces for a flourishy autograph

organize your book - either by movie or alphabetical order

any spiral bound book will work well, I've bought some nice ones over the years from Borders but I believe Michael's has some nice 6x6 books

google Disney clip art for some good images of characters
stickers also work well for more common characters - can be found at Michael's, ACMoore, Hobby Lobby, Target, Walmart - look in the giftcard section for small stickers

add your email address and/or mailing address to the inside cover in case it gets lost

customizing the book per child is all personal preference. My DD loves princesses so hers is very girlie. the boys love Goofy, Mickey, and Donald so their books match their character. Adding the kids names to the cover is fun, have them help decorate the cover or if it's a surprise find out who their faves are.

make sure you leave one side for a photo and the other side for the autograph. Some characters don't sign though, like Beast.

I usually make my own. I have some pages completed and ready to take for my trip this Sept., but I am running out of time and will not be able to do any more pages for my ds4 book. So to take some pressure off I going to use some autograph images from Natalies blog. I plan to take them to Office Depot or some where and print them out and get them spiral bound. Here is her link to some of her digital images:

I go with bigger ones 5x8 is a great size. Although it can be a pain to lug around. This year we used the pages nemo mom linked too. The characters loved it. I reccomend putting names on the covers because the face characters usually take a peek and call the kids by their first names which is always a little extra magical.

JLD where did you get yours printed at? I am having a feeling I will run into copyright issues and noone will print them out for me.

I printed them at home. I did just about everyone and went through ALOT of paper and 2 things of ink (i made a book for each girl) I copied and pasted them into word and re-sized them for 2 on a page and then trimmed them down. But all in all even after a week trip and 7 character meals we only ended up with 40 something autographs. :sad2: but the characters loved them just same  and all the moms in the lines wanted to know where i got them. :lmao:

I printed mine off of snapfish i think and no copyright issues:) if you do the i hour thing at walgreens for example, I have heard you run into issues.

That is a good idea. Did you like them on the photo paper better than regular paper?

I also used the cards from the link above. I uploaded them to Shutterfly and printed them as 4 x 6 matte photos. No copyright issues. Then I will use sharpies for the characters to sign with a clipboard. I am in the process of making the autobooks now. I am using 8.5 x 11 sheets and the signature card is mounted on cardstock with photo corners. The cards can be removed and brought to the parks in ziplock bags and then they can be put back with the pictures after the trip. Each character gets a page. Then I will either buy an album cover at the parks or use a three ring binder. I hope this helps.

Hi I am making 4 different autograph books for my children for our upcoming trip this Nov. This is my first time making a custom album and I am really pleased. Our family loves stopping for the autographs and pictures.

I made sure to pick characters I knew we'd have a good chance of seeing in the parks or at character meals.

I used Natalie's 2010 autograph pages as well. I printed them at home on sturdy stationary paper and then used a chipboard album. Each page I first covered in cardstock, inked the edges and added her blank character page.

here is an example page:

Thanks everyone for the great ideas. At the moment I have one granddaughter and three grandsons and one grandchild on the way that we don't know yet if it will be a boy or a girl. I am planning on working on my grandaughters first. The design for the boys will be the same. I am excited to do this and hopefully I have given myself enough time.
Keep the ideas coming.

I ordered 4x6 matte prints Natalie designed from Snapfish to take with us. I'll have the characters sign them and some will go in our 12x12 Disney album, and others will be in the boys small flipbook album I make for them after each trip.
