I assume these are sold at the parks, but was wondering if these would be better to get before, not sure where they would be sold, but maybe there is more selection on these out there vs maybe only one type at the park? Do people make their own? If I were to wait and purchase these at the park, do they come with pen or marker, or do I need to get my own. I wonder how common these are, I have never had one going to WDW growing up so dont know how thick they should be.

Yes they are sold all over the park and came with a pen . We preferred the Disney ones as opposed to ones bought outside as it makes another nice souvenir of the trip - the disney ones have a place to place the photo next to the autograph which is nice also.

We have always made our own. At Walmart they have little 6x6 blank, spiral bound books with a foam cover. They come with foam letters, glitter pens and shapes. On the inside we make little pages with each character for them to sign. On the other side we attach a picture of my DDs with the character.

I always take some 4x6 blank index cards, punch a hole in the top corner and put them on a ring and have the characters sign the cards. That way when I get home the signatures can be cut down and put onto the scrapbook page of that character. I also take the sharpie pens in different colors so the kids can decide which color of pen to use. Simple and cheap.

We bought a diary as an autograph book, tons of pages. They are sold in the parks, no pen with it though.

Most of the autograph books sold at the Parks actually don't include pens/markers. Last year, only the most expensive/biggest one with the memo lines came with a pen. All the other ones, you will need to bring your own or buy them. The regular ones with the photo pages are $10.95 before tax so it's definitely a lot cheaper to make your own. I think it can be a fun project for the kids but I'm too lazy so I buy mine anyway :rotfl:

we like to make our own, because the ones we've bought inside the parks fell apart (not during the trip, but afterwards - the pages just fell right out of the books). we use cardstock for the pages so they are much less likely to tear, and we have a coil binder at home so we coil bind the books with big, plastic coils...this way the pages don't fall out, and we can also add more later if we want to. for those who don't have a coil binder machine, you can get it done at Kinkos for a few bucks. we also like to personalize the covers, so making our own is great for that, too.
