Hi
We are planning our first trip to Disney and have seen many posts re autograph books. I think this is a great idea, but am looking for opinions and suggestions as to how to go about creating one. I see that there are many designs out there but how are people putting them together....do you just leave the pages loose and then scrapbook them upon return or do you bind them into a book....what works best? Suggestions from those that have used and created one would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Garrett:

I had the same questions a few months ago when I started out. I tossed around MANY ideas and listened to MANY suggestions. What I decided to do was print out the actual pages on cardstock paper, then cut down the pages w/ a paper cutter and then I brought it to KINKO's to have them bound. I like the scrapbooking route but I don't have the time & $$$$ to invest in it. I also wanted a "finished product" for the kids to be excited about & carry around with them in DISNEY. Part of the thrill for them is finding the characters. For the front & back covers I used chipboard which I covered with Scrapbook paper. Here are some pictures:

I made mine 4x6 inches and purchased a photo album so that I could slide them in and out of the album for the characters to sign. Some people clip a butterfly clip to the top of the album and when they pull the picture out then clip it to the album so that it won't fly away if it is windy and the album gives the character a hard surface to write on. I like the album so that I can pull out the ones that were signed and put them in a scrapbook then all I have to do is replace the ones that were signed if we ever go again.

Good luck making your decision!

We are in Disney rigt now. I printed out tons of Natalie's autograph pages. I have them in alphabetical order in a ziplock baggie. As we see characters, I pull put the right card. I put in on a mini clipboard ( I got it in the dollar basket in Target) for the character to sign with a Sharpie. When we see two characters together, Capt. Hook and Mr. Smee, etc., I put the second autograph card on the back with a butterfly clip and we just tell the charcters to turn it over. It has been working great. When we get home I plan on putting them all together in a book. I didn't want to bind it before we went because I did not want to have blank pages.

I uploaded the autograph cards to Walmart and had them printed as 4x6 photos.
Put these alphabetically into a small 4x6 hardcover photo album. Used the butterfly binder clips that Dolly mentioned to hold the photo on the outside of the book for the character to sign. Used a clickable sharpie for signing.
Once home, I assembled the autograph cards and the picture of the kids with the character into a 2 per page (top and bottom) photo album.
Kids love going thru the book and seeing themselves and the autograph.
