autograph books... it adds up

With four daughters... what ideas for autograph books are out there? or places can I get autograph books cheap for characters to sign? We have a character breakfast every morning.

I like them because you can store them open to the next blank page & they fit inside a ziplock sandwich bag along with a pen.

Consider getting just one and having them share it! It's a real hassle and takes a long time when they each have their own! My kids are big, high-maintenance PITAs some of the time, but they never really minded sharing the autograph book.

Make them yourself, print pictures of the characters on heavier card stock, punch holes in them and put them in a small binder. We also found journals that had Disney characters in the dollar spots at Target and Michaels, those worked great.

DW got everything at Michaels and the girls personalized them. The CM's really made a big deal about how unique they were too, so my daughters were beaming with pride. "Daddy, did you hear that? Pocahontas liked my book!!"

My kids do hats. They get a new one each trip and the characters sign it. This way it is always on their head and I don't have to hold it for them!

I made 2 myself. I'm at about $7-$8 each, that includes the $4 spiral binding done at Staples. All I bought was 4 sheets of scrapbook paper to decorate the covers and some heavy card stock cut to size for the pages.

Disney Store has 25% off plus, they have a deal with vacation essentials- if you buy 4 or more you get an extra 10%, 6 or more 20% and 8 or more 30% (you can combine these). So at $7.95 with 25% off then, 30% they come to about $4.17 each. Not too bad. If you don't need 8 items, I just bought some air fresheners (which are included). You could also just buy something (anything) them return it at your nearest store. But hurry, the 25% off only lasts a couple more hours. If you miss this one, you can wait until they have the WDW parks items 25% off (which happens about once a month) and get them then.

Look in the frames and phot-book sections at places like Target and craft stores,

Get one of those old fashioned books where you slide the pictures in to the sleeve pages.

we have the kids share 1 book. We have the characters signs right on the plastic sleeve, then when we get home, send the photos to print, slide the photo in the sleeve where the character signed.

We got our last set at the SuperTarget right there in town, worked perfect !

We are signing pillowcases with fabric markers. At least they can use them afterwards. The books were just a waste of space after we got home. The kids never looked at them again.

We did pillow cases our last trip and love them! Just a tip though. Insist the character use your fabric pens! The cast member with Buzz wouldn't use the one I gave him and said he had to use the sharpie he had. When we got home and washed the pillow cases the sharpie ink ran a bit and isn't as clear/clean as the rest of the autographs.

I did this as well. I got them at Michaels in the dollar spot and they were disney themed. They also had little lanyards that matched and clipped on to the book.
It was perfect for ds, and he wore it around his neck. It was a few years back but they might still sell them. Try Dollar Stores too.

I made my kids a huge autograph book that is over 100 pages. Each page is dedicated to a single character, character meals and has pages for miscellaneous characters. Everything is in alphabetical order. I made it for our May 2012 trip and have used it for our December 2012 trip, June/July 2013 trip and our December 2013 trip. And will be used for our future trips.

It's time consuming to make but once it's finished, it will be worth it. As it will be something that the kids will always have. And it lasts for several trips unlike a generic autograph book that gets tossed after 1 trip.

Blank index cards work really well for this!! I bought the loose ring binders and just punched one (Mickey-shaped) hole in the corner.

I've done this too. there's an encyclopedia of Disney stories book - it cost more, but it's something that gets used all the time at home for reading, so I don't mind....

I made mine with heavy card stock I already had in the house (we are a crafty bunch), punched holes and used binder rings to hold it together. Each page is specialized with the name and image of a character I hoped we would meet, and the title page was made for our trip in September. We managed to meet 17 characters, so the extra pages have been put aside for a future trip, and the photos have been attached to the pages facing the autographs we got. Took and hour or two to put together, but cost little more than the time, ink and binder rings.
