Hi. I plan to meet some characters on my trip in May with my family. I want to meet Anna and Elsa, some of the other princesses. We also have a lunch scheduled at the Crystal Palace on our first full day there. Where's a good place, either at the parks or Downtown Disney, to but an autograph book?

Honestly. Anywhere. They have multiple carts around and all the souvenirs stores have them.

I know this not what you asked but we brought along a photo mat and had them sign that and then we put a pic from our trip in it. It's nice to be able to do something with the signatures. When we were little we had the books and I don't think we ever looked at them again lol

Honestly you can get them anywhere. I got an official autograph book off of eBay before my last trip. When I got into the parks I saw the exact book for double the price I paid. DD loved it and got tons of signatures. I always try to buy souvenirs before going into the parks to lessen the impulse of buying something ten times as much. Anyway, that's my little piece of advice.

Before your trip, if you have a Disney store near you, they sell Autograph books, as well. Then you can have the book handy when you arrive to catch autographs on the way in . . . at least that's my theory. My kids have never been to Disney before, we're flying down 4/29 and have a chef mickey dinner that night (not in the park til 4/30), so we wanted our autograph book in advance. Also to have it there on the way in the next morning in case we catch anyone at Cinderella castle, etc. I got her a pink one with all the Disney princesses on it and spaces for photos in between the autograph pages. They also had in blue. I don't see it on Disney online order page, but they have a similar one with Tinkerbell.

I'm buying the Disney encyclopedia book on eBay its due for release in June its updated with Anna and Elsa has their pics and stories.. Also all Disney characters a-z I read the characters really respond well and spend more time with your child when they sign that book

*I ment amazon not eBay*
I'm loving this option. Is there a pre order on amazon for it?

NM! I think I found it. It's the Junior encyclopedia due out June 3? Yay for prime, because we are leaving on the 7th. :D

Is that the junior one?

I ordered mine from the Disney Store site, official Disney merch section. It was nice to have it before entering the parks so I didn't have to spend time looking for it. I got the one that is red, and that has the slots for pictures on one side and the autograph page on the other. These are nice as they are a little bigger than the smaller ones. The only caution though is if you are going to meet a bunch of characters, there's not a lot of pages in this one. My nephews finished the entire book about half way through our trip (but we also did a bunch of character meals), and I had to buy them the smaller one with just pages so they had one.

Last year, with just four days at DLR, we went through a book and a half (the kind with slots for photos). We did a LOT of character meets. We've got eight days at WDW starting 4/20. Maybe I should get three books...

Also, just FYI, some of the books have photo slots that do NOT fit a 4x6 picture. Not that it's a big deal to have to cut down the picture, but it was unexpected.

We are also fans of the style that has a page for a picture. I like that because then we can get these each trip and see how the kids gets bigger.

You can find them easily throughout the parks and in all of the resort gift shops. But I would highly recommend bringing a Sharpie marker with you - ballpoint pens don't really show up that well on the colored pages.

We do a lot of characters but only do one book per year - so I always make sure that we reserve a few pages for any key characters that the kids HAVE to meet. Last year, we met Merida on our last day, but reserved the first page for her as she was DDs favorite at the time.

Has anyone used post bound scrapbooks and scrapbook paper instead of the standard autograph books? I am tempted to do this, but not sure if it's a good idea or not.

Yes! We actually used 8x8 scrap booking paper. I carried along an 8x8 album to keep the pages neat and in order. (It also provided the characters something hard to press upon while signing). Each character got their own page and we made sure to tell them to fill in the whole space. DDs scrapbook is just adorable! Each character has their own 2 page spread. On the left side is the autograph and on the right side are pics of DD with that particular character. I've gotten so many compliments on her book. We simply add pages for each trip to accommodate characters we haven't met before. I just love that we can watch my daughter grow up as we flip the pages.

Other than the sort of generic blue one, are there any available in the parks/DTD that DO NOT have the photo sheet on one side? I am embarrassed to admit that I have the best intentions of going back and filling those sleeves with my kids and the characters but NEVER do and it's just 1/2 a book of wasted space. But I feel like the only other option I've ever seen is the "plain" blue one. I'd prefer DS and DD have different books if possible but the rest ALL seem to have the photo sleeve and I am not creative enough to make my own, and our trip is close enough that Etsy/Shutterfly aren't really an option.

Disney Store only had the ones w/the photo sleeves when I went last week and looked online as best I could tell.

I printed the autograph pages I found on here (disboards) and had them spiral bound. After our trip, I plan to remove the signed ones and put them in a scrapbook album so I can customize it

Well, I still haven't filled in the book from our November trip and forgot to print Mary Poppins picture from the 2012 trip. But I have every intention to fill them someday!! LOL Regardless of when they get filled, I do still take pictures of them and can fill them whenever.

I personally have not seen a non-picture autograph book other than that blue one. But could you go to Target or Michaels (or other craft store) and find a spiral bound journal that could be used instead? Not Disney, per se, but the kids could decorate with stickers or markers while you're traveling?

I'd rather use an "official" book as the kids had them last year and flip through them weekly and love them, so I worry anything with a less-sturdy binding may not hold up and I've looked at some bound blank notebooks at Target, etc. but the pages seem to be thinner paper that may not stand up well to the Sharpie and bleed through. Such problems, I know ;) but thought maybe there was a secret stash somewhere I hadn't tried! The quest continues!! Thank you so much for letting me know, I won't have unreasonable expectations now and wait 'til we get there!
