OK, if they have the chicken picatta in Sept, I am definitely having that!! Good idea on taking the storage container.
atwmommy, if you can get seating in the lower level of the train, take it. It is much quieter "down" there. There is no one walking thru the car as the only access from car to car is on the 2nd level, and in the lower level you're closer to the restrooms. There is a door that closes and separates the seating area from the entrance/foyer of the car and the restrooms. You could call Amtrak now to see if they can switch your seating to the lower level.

) On the last trip with 3 of my DS's, I paid for the DP because it was the first visit for the youngest 2 and they were so happy not having to look at prices and just order their food. I think your idea of giving your son the left over CS and snacks was perfect for leaving him some extra food when you left - kudos to great parenting!
