Taking the autotrain for the first time to bring my son to college in Tampa. Has anyone had any experience in the Reserved Coach seating vs. the Lower level?
What are the pros and cons of each? They're both the same price.

I would also love to know the difference... I have stayed in upper but not lower.

Lisa - the family (me, wife, and 4 kids) is scheduled to take the autotrain, sitting in the upper level, in Novemeber. Can you tell me if the seats were comfortable enought to sleep in and any general comments positive or negative around your autotrain experiences?

thanks

While it can be reserved by anyone, other than just increased seating capacity lower-level reserved seating in a Superliner coach is primarily for passengers with mobility impairments, or perhaps those who need to be close to the restrooms.

Some persons seem to prefer the lower-level becuase it's a much smaller seating compartment, close to the doors and restrooms, and sometimes a larger family can almost have the section to themselves. All coach restrooms are on the lower-level. On the downside, the dining and lounge cars are only accessible from the upper level, as you can only pass between cars upstairs.

If you can sleep the night in a recliner, you should have little trouble on the train.

GMULL.. We enjoyed it.. I only had 2 kids at the time and they were 8 and 3, This summer I will be going back with 4 like you. We were able to sleep with no problems. The food was good adn was so much better than driving back to NJ (we only took it home that trip)

I see now they have those dvd players you can rent fromthe station. We plan on doing that.

Don't forget to grab your carry on bag from your car. We forgot ours and were out of luck. I would also bring a throw and a small pillow.

We did upper level last time.. with 4 kids this time, one in diapers and one potty training I think I am going to get lower level seats to make it easier.
