We are thinking about going to an auto auction to purchase a car and resell it. Has anyone ever done this before? We don't have a clue where to start..

Thanks...

The places around here you need to have an association with a dealership to be allowed in. They don't just let anyone in... other then that, I haven't looked into it.

Here in NJ it is the same as the PP. You must have an association with a dealership. My DH used to work for a dealer and used to go all the time. I mentioned we should go and he said they won't let you in without showing some sort of ID.

I just bought a car on Ebay and it turned out great. I suggest you filter the results of your search by clicking the "no reserve" box.

With any used car make sure you budget extra money for repairs because they usually end up needing something.

The auctions that the general public has access to are cars in the lower third of the hierarchy.

top- ford/gm/chrysler dealer only auctions set up for each brand by the manufacturer

middle- auctions for all used car dealers in general.

bottom- open to the general public

The big question is..............do you have the ability to make lemonade out of a possible lemon that you may buy?
