Tomorrow I will be 7 months out from my next DVC trip and I am thinking of booking a split stay between The Poly and Kidani, I have wanted to stay at the Poly in previous years but my plans always end up changing. I love Kidani for its authenticity and the ability to interact with cast members who are actually from Africa, are the Poly cast members from Polynesia? I am currently on Rarotonga and the people are amazing, I would really like a duplicate of the hospitality I am receiving here. TIA

The Poly CMs are not from Polynesia. There are a few scattered around. Auntie Kau'i is, and has been there since the first day, but she is very old and is there limited hours.

Most of the CMs you interact with will be mainlanders without ties to Polynesia. Moat of the CMs with those ties do special things like the torch lighting.

If you want an experience similar to AKV you will be disappointed.

You will get the usual Disney hospitality at the Polynesian, but the CM's I've encountered are similar to those from other resorts (with the exception of AKV) as far as home origin goes.

I'd describe the Poly as retro, kitschy "Polynesian." Don't get me wrong, I love every inch of the resort, but it was never intended to be an authentic representation of Polynesia. More like the 60s/70s theme park hotel version of the islands.

I always think of the Brady Bunch episode where they go there...

OMG, my bad. I was thinking of the Brady Bunch goes to Hawaii episodes...
