Hi everyone!

My family and i are looking at coming to LA in June for 9-10 days. We want to take our girls to Disneyland. Hubby and i went to Disneyworld (and we did Vegas, Miami and a Caribbean cruise) at the start of last year. Our girls are 7, 5 and 3 (she will turn 4 when we are over there).

So i have a few questions, and have always gotten such helpful advice from people on the disboards

Firstly how many days should we get passes to Disneyland for? I was thinking 3 days originally but after reading a bit i was thinking it could prob be done in 2 days??

We would like to hire a car and do a couple of other places while we are over there, fit as much as we can into our trip. Does anyone have some advice of what we definitely should see. We were thinking along the lines of doing LA (hollywood etc?) Disneyland, maybe San Fran? we did think maybe drive to vegas but since hubby and i have been already we prob wouldn't do that, its not really child friendly anyway! So please can someone give me some ideas of an itinerary that we could look at. We were thinking San Diego Zoo etc but then we decided that if we were only going to be there for 9 days (possibly 10 or 11 if needed) then we wouldn't see things like zoos etc *** we have zoos in melbourne if you know what i mean? Kind of want to do things / see things that are unique to america

So please help...i have to book in a couple of days if we want to go ahead with these plans

Thanks in advance

Hi Louise,

Yes, you can do Disneyland in 2 days. Crowds start to pick up in June so 3 days would give you a bit more time. Especially with little ones who may need some down time during the day. Also, go for a park hopper so you can wander between the two parks - DL & CA.

San Diego is a great place to visit. The zoo is wonderful as well as the Wild Animal Park. Can understand if you want to do other things. Balboa Park with the gardens and museums was a favorite of ours as well as Coranado Island and the beaches, Old Town, the marina/bayfront and Seaport Village. We lived there for 3 years and miss the area. San Diego is only about an hour and a half south of DL.

San Francisco is also a wonderful town. So much to see and do. Riding the cable cars, driving down Lombard Street (curvy road seen in movies), Alamo Park (beautiful homes also featured in movies), Chinatown, Fishermans Wharf, Giradelli Square for chocolate, the Golden Gate Bridge just to name a few. We took a trip north to SF and had a great time. If you go this route I suggest you take your time driving north and take the coast road. Many great places and things to see along the way. Solvang is a Dutch town that is fun to wander through, Cambria is a beautiful seaside town, Hearst Castle is beautiful and the views are spectacular, Carmel is nice too and the drive can't be beat. Pick a spot between LA & SF to spend the night and take two days to drive.

I too am heading back to CA for a road trip in June and these are all stops along our route. Hope you all have fun in CA!

Warning - San Francisco is at least six hours away from LA.

San Diego is amazing. Great weather and great beaches.
Don't forget Yosemite National Park (northern Cali), Sequioa National Forest, Monterey and its aquarium, and you could take the kids on a catamaran to Catalina Island. Or how about whale watching?
