Aussie Disneyland Planners come on in and lets plan together :)

I have been using this site

www.airfaresflights.com.au

to compare prices and flight dates.

Great site Darren123, will definately save this to faves for pricing our next trip (don't let my hubby know that, we haven't been on this one yet). I'm a bit of a travelbug!

I had a great money saving trip planning today, applied two extra Entertainment rates for HOJO's stay, and got a discount off part of our WDW resort stay. Gotta be happy with that, it's all money for SHOPPING!
:ssst:

Yes I know what you mean with savings Kalice

Our next trip I got airfares for $1244 each direct from Brisbane to LAX with V Australia I could have gotten them cheaper by about $100 with a stop over.
Booked HoJo with the ER and Disneyland tickets Adults at Kids prices for Jan/Feb a good price for a holiday hoping to do the same for Nov/Dec will not be able to get the Disney Tickets cheaper was thinking on getting and AP.

The AP looks very appealing if you're making a couple of trips, plus the other discounts can work in your favour too. Only thing that could stand in its way is the blockout dates. I've found that the rates we've got this trip have been great. It makes a big difference travelling during 'non-peak' time. We've been hit pretty hard in NYC though, but I'm sure it will worth it. 6 SLEEPS TO GO :woohoo:

OMG, I just booked tickets for us to go to Disneyland, NEXT WEEK!!!

We looked on the weekend and there was a cheap Qantas flight going over on Saturday so started thinking, will we, won't we. Anyway it was just too soon and anyway the flight went. So today we looked and we got $655 for adults and about $500 for kids. (not so cheap return but still cheap) with VAustralia and booked it!!!! We go next Wednesday!!!!

So mad rush now, to book accommodation (did check before to see if there was some). So going to stay at Grand Californian, very excited!

Now just trying to work out wether to buy the 14 day park hopper from Expedia for all of us or one of us get the AP so we get the discounts as it isn't a lot more for the AP and it will be a lot in savings on food and souvenirs with the AP.

Anybody else bought the AP? Was it easy when you got there to get it or should we not bother and just all get the 14 day park hopper. Being so close to when we go, what happens with the park hopper when you buy it from Expedia? Do you just get a voucher to print off?

Am just so excited, can't believe we have a week to get packed and organised! :santa:

Wow that is exciting. I can't imagine being able to get ready for a trip so quickly, but you can be sure I'd make it work :rotfl2:

How much were your flights return?

Yay for staying at the Grand Californian, that's where I want to stay next time, esp at Christmas, it will be beautiful.

Hi,

Just a question regarding internal air travel. Did anyone notice people taking suitcases (not carry on size) on as carry on luggage? I was just looking at luggagelimits.com and have noticed the few airlines I checked as allowing: Carry On Allowance
Permitted : 1 Free bag
Size : 45" / 114cm (length + width + height)
Weight : 40lbs / 18kg

This seems quite large, more like what we normally check.

:rotfl: some of the carry on bags are huge, well for carry on's. I have often found it amusing, wondering how they will fit into the overhead lockers, but they seem to, maybe they have larger lockers than our domestic planes.

Anyway yes I have noticed lots of people taking large bags (small suitcases) as carryon's

Believe me it is very stressful getting ready in a week. Although, we got ready for three weeks at WDW in less than 2 weeks last year.

The hardest thing is the medical insurance, we have special medical conditions (asthma) so have to have a dr fill in the form. So it's just lots of running around, then packing and making lists so everything is done. But once you get on that plane, anything that is forgotten is just that forgotten and if it's something really needed then we can just buy it over there. But thanks to my wonderful list making skills :rotfl2: I seem to be able to get ready pretty quickly.

The Grand Californian is great, we love it there, we stayed there about 5 years ago (not at Christmas though) so am just so excited. I'm just trying to get onto Dream Makers (may try Vacation Planning soon) to organise the room to be decorated when we arrive. I'm hoping they may have a Christmas theme or even a tree. We are there for 2 weeks and arrive home Christmas day, so it would be nice to have some Christmas decorations around the room.

We didn't take any US domestic flights last trip. Wondering if perhaps we can reduce our checked luggage costs as we have a couple of medium sized suitcases that would easily fit within dimensions. Overhead bins must be bigger than Qantas, as I can't imagine fitting them in.

Some can hardly wheel the suitcase down the aisle they are so big. But they are not as big as the suitcases that we personally have. But if your cases fit the airlines specifications then go for it.

As well on most US airlines you need to pay additional for checked luggage, even just one suitcase. So many people do what they can to get it on board.

We've booked our domestic flights in the US with Southwest, they include 2 pieces of checked.

It's worth trying to board early if you can as their carryon is huge and you end up losing space to put your own stuff. On our trip last year we could only use the seat in front of us which was ok as it was a short flight, but on a long flight it would drive me nuts.

Anyone heard from Jacs? She should be back by now? Jacs if you are around would love to hear how your trip went and how surprised the kids were.

Today's my last day at work and then I'm heading off to LA tomorrow morning!!!

I'll be going to Santa Monica for 2 nights of recovery, relaxation and shopping!!! Then onto Disneyland for 6 nights, including Christmas!!! :santa: Then to San Francisco :hippie: for 5 nights and back to LA for 4 nights, including New Years Eve, before flying home!

I'm so excited!! I'm all packed and ready to go so all I have to do now is enjoy my work Christmas party and hopefully not drink toooo much.

I hope everyone has a lovely Christmas! I know I will :goodvibes
