Aussie Disneyland Planners come on in and lets plan together :)

I totally think we could sustain it, after all when we all get back we will have to start planning for the next trip :thumbsup2

Buy yourself the 50mm 1.8, rather than the 1.4 and it is cheap as chips. I think they are only $169. If you bought one in the US it would be heaps cheaper too. The 50mm's are brilliant for just about anything.
Yes that's the one I'm looking at. I mean I'd LOVE the 1.4 but I'm a realist :lmao:

Gosh doesn't anyone here work,
Go to work for a day and feel like I am reading a novel when I get home:laughing:
:cool1:

Yikes - just checked out the price of the 70-200mm. I don't think I could talk DH into that purchase. I may look at the 50mm 1.8 for the dark rides, and maybe a cheap zoom. I doubt I would use a zoom much as I only take photos of the kids.

Not me. I am a SAHM. Usually I am at uni, but I have deferred this year due to bub. I will graduate next year, then it is back to the real world for me.

Dollarmite Thanks for the Delta info. I am going to have to try and to my online check-in while I am on the cruise.

It would be great if we could have our own forum. I have been hanging out on the WDW and Cruise forums as I have been to Disneyland a few times already. It would be nice to be able to talk about those experiences with other Aussies too. It has taken me months just to figure out the whole dining thing at WDW.

I have already PM'd one of the mods and asked her if we could have our own forum, but did not get a reply so I guess that means NO:rotfl:
It would be good to have things separated a little, then if we wanted some info on say currency we could go straight to that thread instead of searching the pages. I mean we talk about currency all the time but it was probably at least 20 pages and 2 hours ago:rotfl2:

The problem with getting addicted to the Dis forum, is you fall flat when you get home after your trip and discover it's all over - no more planning :sad2:

So the only cure is to have another trip in the pipeline to throw yourself back into:lmao:

I just pm'd a moderator, suggesting an Aussie/Kiwi sub-forum. Here's hoping. :worship::worship:

Me too. ;)

If anyone had told me a year ago that I'd be obsessing over menus and dining times/location months before I even set foot in the place I'd have thought they were crazy.:rotfl2: Now, thinking in abbreviations (ADR, CM, CRT etc) seems perfectly natural. :lmao::rotfl2:

And don't even get me started on my excitement over free dining. (Saved almost 2000 AUD!!!!!):banana::banana:

From reading these boards it almost feels like WDW is a marathon to be endured, rather than the fairly relaxing experience I've found DL to be.

Ditto!
I run a business from home and today I was trying very hard to restrict my Disboarding to my lunch break but the lunch break got longer and longer...:guilty:

I've been thinking that Disboards should consider setting up a forum for Aussies and Kiwis. They have one for UK people as so many of them travel to WDW. There seems to be more and more Aussies/Kiwis traveling to Disneyland - this thread is now huge!

The thread has been a fantastic resource but it would be so much better if it was possible to post separate messages relating to those particular issues that we have in relation to our Disney trips that US residents don't have to worry about ( foreign exchange, airlines, dealing with customs, driving on the wrong side of the road etc)

Andona

I agree - if we can't have a separate board on here there are free forums out there and we could make our own one. Forumotion.net and niceboard.net are both free ones that I've been a part of.

Though it would be lovely to still be associated with the Mighty Dis Boards :)

This is my impression of WDW. The thought of going there scares me a little :rotfl:.

I can't imagine how much time we would need to spend there and the whole thing is overwhelming.

With that said, I mentioned to my husband that when we go we'll need to go there for 9-10 days. He looked at me like I may have lost my mind :lmao:

He has no intention of going back to DL or ever setting foot into WDW. I think we all know who'll win that one :rotfl2:

Poor guy, he doesn't stand a chance

WDW certainly is going to be an experience. Last time I went, I was one of those people that didn't have a 'plan'.

We are staying off-site so no free dining, but I have made ADR's for 4 character meals. It was so easy to do on-line.

I am armed with my 7 day non-hopping, non-water park, expiring park tickets, the Touring Plans crowd calendar and have based my park strategies on the Unofficial Guide and the Steve Soares website.

After WDW, we are doing a 4 night Disney cruise. That is another entirely different planning experience again.

On the way home we are staying at HoJo's. I think DH will be over the whole Disney thing by then, but I could not be in California and not go to Disneyland.

Ms. Shuttergirl My DH says the same thing, and this is the 3rd time I have 'made' him go. It is good now that the kids are a little older and they are on my side. There is power in numbers.

I think if this thread continues to grow and grow, we may get our own one, like the UK one for WDW. WDW is a marathon, we went for 12 days last year to fit in days of rest and the waterparks. The hardest part was working out which park to go on what day, and then to match up the dining with that day. I think we changed our PS 5 or 6 times? Can you now do it online??

Hehehe, that's what I'm hoping. I feel confident it won't be my only trip. NOw just to get DH to think it was his idea. I find that works best, hehe.

I booked my PS this morning. I am soooooo excited now. We will be having breaky with Minnie and friends and also with Ariel and the princesses. We are having lunch at the Carnation Cafe and the Rainforest Cafe and dinner at ESPN. We are also going to the Disneyland Happiest Birthday Party with pat-e-cake. I think the rest of our meals we will probably just play by ear :goodvibes

Yayay! I felt giddy when I made my PS reservations, hehe. I'm excited for you.

Yes, you can do WDW dining online now. It only started about a month ago. And the great thing is that reservations open at 6am Florida time, which is 8pm our time, so no need to get up in the middle of the night. Mind you, I don't mind ringing Disney dining. Even just being on hold to talk to someone at Disney is exciting.

We did the Pat-e-cake birthday party when DD turned 3. It was actually a few days before her 3rd birthday so we didn't have to pay for her, which was really weird. The kids loved the cake decorating, though they did get very messy.

We went to WDW last year for 10 days, the only thing we didn't do is the waterparks. That gave us time to do each of the 4 parks, Animal Kingdom, Epcot, Magical Kingdom and MGM Studios.

We had time to do each park comfortably and went back to Magical Kingdom, Epcot and MGM for a second day at each. We did a day at Universal Orlando. We were done there in a few hours, has nothing on the one in LA. We spent a day or two outside the park shopping etc and had plenty of time at Downtown Disney, which is massive!

Basically we found 10 days a perfect amount of time. In saying there there is alot of things we didn't do that the resort has to offer. My only tip is that you need to plan a little more each day to allow for time getting to each park etc. It's not as easy to just take a break from the park and head back to the room and head back in, so you tend to get there early and leave at the end of the day so it's a pretty full day each time.

It's an amazing place and would recommend it to anyone who love DL or anything Disney.

The place is massive, I think in total area it's around 99km sq, so when anyone looks at you crazy for wanting to spend the time there, trust me when I say you won't see it all or do it all in 10 days, the place is huge.

Hope you get there. Though DL is still our favourite, something about that place that is pretty magical. I am thinking this may be the first of many trips there for you, you get hooked once you walk through that front entrance :)

We leave for the US in 2 weeks and 5 days!!!:yay:

We have got almost everything organised now. We've booked tickets to a cirque show in Vegas and the Lion King show on Broadway in New York. We've got tickets on the Grayline bus for a universal studios tour and Hollywood/LA tour. We also got Front of Line passes for universal studios. We've also got tickets to see the Angels vs Yankees baseball game when we first arrive in Anaheim. Also got our Grand Canyon south rim tour booked too.

We've got all our PS made for Disneyland. We'll be eating at Goofy's kitchen, Ariel's grotto, Carnation cafe, EPSN Zone, Rainforest Cafe, Blue Bayou & either Storyteller's Cafe or Hook's Pointe.

Now all that is left to do is book seats for the Dine with Shamu lunch at Seaworld. Our dates still aren't showing yet for the online booking.

I've half packed my cabin bag and bought all our toiletries and things we'll need for the trip. I'm going shopping on the weekend to buy some new bathers. Vegas is going to be very hot when we go there and I plan to swim in the Neverland pool at DLH too!

We'll be in DL on the first day of the new Halloween fireworks which is pretty exciting and I've heard the fantasmic dragon will be there when we go too!

Can't wait!!! Bring on the 13th September!! :yay::banana::cheer2:
