Aussie Disneyland Planners come on in and lets plan together :)

So if you don't use them all can you get your money back when you get home?
Yes. You can cash them here just like you can cash them oversea.. just at the current (on the day you cash them) USD to AUD rate.

Personally I don't find them oldfashioned as they still work perfectly well. I don't plan to get them but if I did then my decision between them and a card would be based entirely on what got me the best exchange rate deal.

But yanno... I've been travelling overseas for years and years so perhaps I'm just getting old :rotfl:

BTW we were able to use our old fashioned travellers cheques at every shop/restaurant we went to. Just handed them over as cash, had to show ID sometimes, and then were given the cash in change. Sometimes we just cashed them at the hotel but HoJo's will only cash $100 per day.:)

Hi everyone,

Has anyone used a Limo service they can recommend lately ?
We used tony the limo king once before but wanted to see if anyone else had some glowing reviews , we want to get one from LAX to Ho Jo's.
Thanks :thumbsup2

Someone here recommended crown limo, I have contacted them and their quote was very reasonable, but I haven't personally used them.

Thanks :goodvibes Ms Shuttergirl can I ask you a question??? What hints can you give us for taking photo's of the fireworks?

I've not shot fireworks before (which is crazy right?). The opportunity just hasn't been there.

However I found this thread in the photography section, there seem to be some pretty experienced peeps in there so I think you will find everything you need in here:-

Also, I had a friend go to DL in May and she just took a point and shoot with her, she got the most amazing Fireworks images, so it can be done with any type of camera, just steady heads and shooting at the right time, and being close to the fireworks I think would help too. She was right at the front.

The photography board is full of tips :)

Here is a link to the "HOW TO SHOOT FIREWORKS" http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1474329

I used the tips for the indoor shows one to take photos from disney princesses on ice and I was impressed with my pics :) I plan on studying all the hints and tips before I go :)

ETA: Doh - I see shuttergirl already answered while my stupid computer crashed :D but I love those hints and tips from the photography board :D

Hey flea you know what I just realised, that we are going to be there at the same time AND at the same hotel :thumbsup2

Is there anyone else on here that will be at the same place at the same time as someone else (does that make any sense :rotfl: )

xx

Wow, lots of info flying around. Thanks for the smartervegas website will have to sign up in case any further deals come up. I read that they also do cheap tickets to some vegas shows as well.

Just checked the travelcard we got last year and the expiry is nov 2011. so its pretty good for a few more trips. Personally I don't like travellers cheques, I find them annoying, however, lots of people love the security of them.

Plus I like the idea of have money already in US dollars, if you are using a standard credit card most of them charge between 2% - 3% on each overseas transaction, and then you are also not as open to the currency fluctuations. Especially if you plan a trip years or months in advance, you can end up paying 20 - 40% more for your trip if the dollar dies during your trip dates. I am also taking more cash than I normally would to save all the visits to the ATM. US is much safer than Melbourne so it's not really that risky, IMHO.

I find with fireworks you just take as many pictures as you can and some will turn out ok. ! :rotfl:

We will be eating goofy's kitchen, carnation cafe, river bell terrace (had a great breakfast their in 2005), and probably blue bayou to try it out. Oh, also that steakhouse at paradise pier and also have the kitchen sink. Won't be making any bookings till we get there.

Just bought my disney and universal tickets. Saved $200 on the disney tickets compared to a few weeks ago. which was nice.

Yeah I think I knew that - or I thought about it at some stage. How cool is that??

Are you going to the Trick or Treat Party?? If so what date? We are hoping to go on Thursday the 22nd - tickets go on general sale this weekend :cool1::cool1:

For those that don't want to spend hours reading different threads that focus just on one thing, like just fireworks, just dark rides, etc, I have found a great thread that gives visual explanations for every tip. It is a perfect little overview that will help you get better images:-

I hope this can help someone.

Yeah we will be going to the ToT party. Hopefully Wed the 21st. Am sooooooo excited about the tickets going on sale Sunday :dance3:

Ok time to reveal my naughtly trick of where to sit during the parade at Disneyland. Now this will only work if you are a couple or have 2 children.

The kerbs were full along mainstreet and we couldn't find a spot until I realised that the "trash can" can move. So I gave it a gentle push back about 30cm and it opened up the spot on the kerb. :cool1:

We then had somewhere to sit, with a back rest (thanks to the bin) and we didn't displace anyone or get in anyones way. If you have children then you can pop them in this spot and you can conviniently stay behind the bin and still get a great view.

When you look down mainstreet the trash cans have all the best spots :lmao:

I have circled a gap opposite to where we were sitting;

shuttergirl the thing I am not sure about is what time they go on sale. I know you can buy them online at Disneyland.com but if it is online sale I am not sure if that means they will go on sale at midnight their time or if they would wait till business hours. I think I will give it a try at their midnight - which is actually a reasonable hour here - if it doesn't work will have to wait till a stupid time of the night to buy them :cloud9:

I'm eagerly awaiting the ticket release too! We are only there for one of the ToT parties, so I don't want to miss out. We plan to go on the 2nd of October.

This is exactly what had me confused. I guess I will just do the same as you.

The funny thing is, I'm still not convinced it is worth the money, but I don't want to miss out in case it's great :rotfl2::rotfl2:
