Aussie Disneyland Planners come on in and lets plan together :)

Just got to jump in and say we got our Disneyland Tickets today :cool1::banana::yay::dance3:

14 day park hopper went to Flight centre and they matched Expedia and gave us 2 x $20 vouchers :woohoo:

Not to mention the saving of a couple of hundred dollars !

I would not have known about this deal without the info from this board

Thanks Guys !!

Well done rossip    I don't know what I am going to use my FC voucher for. I don't think there are any other tickets or anything that I need to get. So unless I think of something I have forgotten it might have to go towards the next holiday :lmao:

xxx

Thanks Aussiegirls !

What is everyones preferred method of transport from LAX to Anaheim ?

Supershuttle or Grayline ? :confused3

TIA

We are using neither. We have a private car booked. Just didn't fancy the possibility of having to drop others off or having several stops after a 15 hr flight. Also if we need to we can stop at a shop on the way to the hotel :goodvibes

We have booked a rental car to get between LAX and Anaheim. That allows us to detour for a quick look at Hollywood and also stop at the supermarket for supplies.

Wow your driving yourself from the airport ?

Your brave !

I think we'll do the grayline option

I must have visited the wrong Flight Centre! I went in this morning, with my Expedia print out and supposedly I have to wait 24 hours to see if they'll price match it. Not impressed at all!

If I don't hear by 10am tomorrow, I'll just book it on Expedia - probably should have done that in the first place and saved myself some time.

All they were trying to do was talk me into going to their USA/Canada travel expo on Sunday.

The expo is a big waste of time. We went prior to our previous trip last year, and even when we asked for a quote for 4 business class tickets which at the time were over $6000 and never got a single phone call back. They are really after people that pretty much don't do any other research and just believe what they read. It would be interesting how the go given online the flights to the US are still $900. Would have to try hard to beat that.

You can tell I am not a big travel agent fan.

LOL. No. I just hate the feeling of being herded on a bus and cost wise it's about the same. DH does the driving and we make the most of it to see other places. It's our 9yos 10th birthday the day we arrive from NY and he really really wants to go to the Hollywood Walk of Fame so we will do that for him.
Last time we stayed in Santa Monica for a few days and then got a car to drive to Anaheim via Venice Beach. On the way back we went via the Queen Mary (which was the biggest rip off waste of time EVER) We only get the car for 24 hours.

I'm not a travel agent fan either. I was just hoping to save some $$ on our Disney tickets.

I think she lost interest after I told her we had already booked our flights, and I had booked our accommodation. Of course, I did also mention that if she could beat my $99 kids suite at Hojo's I might be interested...

Bummer melbarkwith. The girl that served me at FC didn't even mention the expo even though the brochures were sitting on the table in front of me. I hope they call you back with a better deal tomorrow :rolleyes1

Wow! That's a seriously good price for the kids suite!!

It is :thumbsup2 I'm quite sure they won't beat it though - because DH is still surfing accommodation sites and hasn't even come close (it's the entertainment rate).

Me too. Which passes did you end up getting? I was trying for the 14 day park hoppers (even though we're only there 10 days). I'll book it online if I have to, not really that fussed. I managed to book my AP online the other day - soooo excited about that:cloud9:

I got the 14 day vacation passes. It only cost about $10 more in total for the 14 day than the 5 day. We will be in Anaheim for 10 days then moving on to Hollywood after that but I figured the 14 day passes were still worth it. That way if we want to go in just to watch fireworks or a show or something we can, without wasting an entire day of a 5 day hopper. And I figure that if we desperately love DL and neeeeeeeed another day after we have left it's not impossible to come down from Hollywood for a last hurrah :thumbsup2

melbarkwith, I was just curious as to how much your AP was, if you don't mind my asking?

We got the 14 day passes last time, for the exact same reason as you. It worked a treat. On our first day we arrived at around 4pm. We walked into DL just as the Parade of Dreams was starting, it was awesome and a perfect beginning to our trip. If we didn't have those passes, we would never have gone over to DL for just a couple of hours.

My annual pass was $269 US. I got the Deluxe AP, just for the discounts on dining. We plan on doing a few character meals, between those and all other meals I figure we'll save a bit. And *I* can go back to DL for free anytime in the next year :rotfl: DH doesn't like my logic there quite as much as I do!

Hey not sure if this has been mentioned here before or not but Goofy's and Ariel's grotto, and I think Minnie's breakfast too, has a AAA discount of 10%. We can use our NRMA cards because they are somehow affiliated with AAA, you can see the AAA number on the back.

I used it for some of my accom also.

Can we talk about tipping just one more time :lmao::lmao:

I think we've discussed it previously but this thread is now so monstrous it's becoming difficult to go back and find stuff.

For those who have travelled to the US previously, what do you usually tip when in restaurants, taxis, porters, housekeeping, etc????

And how many US $1 notes are you going to take away with you, hehe?

yeah, been thinking about this too, don't want to be stingey but not too over the top either

.

Mel , we had to wait a few hours while they checked it with head office or something to verify they could beat expedia but it was worth it believe me. The price the FC quoted us was $1230 , Expedia was 974.00 we paid 973.00 and got $40.00 vouchers to use on something else.
