Aussie Disneyland Planners come on in and lets plan together :)

I guess my greatest concern is, I don't want us to be carrying too much extra luggage around, but I guess if I had to add one extra bag/case right at the end because of DL purchases, that wouldn't be the end of the world.

Marvel, I like your idea of the collapsible bag thing. I might get online and see if I can find what you mean. I will post back a link and double check with you.

kept woman,
Just wanted to let you know that Qantas have new checked luggage limits now. It is still 2 x 32kgs for First & Business, but now 2 x 23kgs for Premium Economy & Economy! (Don't think we aren't spewing about those "lost" 18 kgs!

Ms Shuttergirl,
I can't recommend enough getting the bus from the Port Authority (which is in Times Square area) out to the Springsteen concert & back. We did it on 3 different nights & it was so easy. They are dedicated buses that just shuttle everyone from the city area to the concert & then are lined up waiting at the end to take everyone back. Can't remeber the cost, but it was very cheap. We were in the same boat as yourselves, very unsure how to do it & were looking into taxis, van & driver & so forth. Saved a heap of money doing it this way instead. Of course try & check it out before hand that nothing has changed (we did this in 2003). One other thing about the concert. Springsteen never has an opening act, so if the start time says 7.00pm (or whatever), pretty much within 10 or so minutes of that is when he will be on. He playes straight thru with no intermission & then comes back on for an encore (do NOT leave before this as he saves some of the best till last).
Hope this is of some help..... Again have a ball!

Just had to share - this morning I booked a Kid's Suite at Hojo for our Oct/Nov visit!

The kids thought I was a little crazy being so excited, but really I'm happy that we are not all crammed into one room for the entire time. Now I just have to decide if we'll use the Entertainment Rate discount, or buy an Annual Pass...

Mel

I just booked airfares for November at the bargain price of $2620 odd for 3 of us, we have brought our trip forward by 9 months because of the great prices.

Probably staying at Hojo, just trying to get an entertainment card off ebay but they all expire 1/11 so may have to wait a couple of months.

But woohoo anyway, sooooo excited :cool1::banana::dance3:

Best I change my ticker WOOOHOOOOO!!!

becpee, Hojo accept Australian Entertainment cards. Great airfare prices - well done! We will be there in November too.

That's great news! The Aust entertainment cards are good until June I think.

When I got my email booking confirmation from Hojo's this morning, they had applied the Mousesavers discount which is the same as Ent rate for suites (15%). So if you are booking a suite, which don't get the full ent rate, use the mousesavers code instead of buying an entertainment book and save yourself some money there.

Hope that makes some sense, I've confused myself typing it out.

Don't worry, we are flying 5 days before you. If V Australia survive my 3YO, I'm sure yours will be a piece of cake! :lmao:

Having said that, last time we went my middle DD was just 4. She is quite the handful normally, but was a complete angel on the plane. So you just never know...the ability to control that little tv screen in front of you is just too much fun to pass up :rotfl:

You haven't met my 3 year old LOL

we take drives out to the airport and now he keeps saying "I want to go on the aeroplane mama" so he's getting his wish (and i'm getting mine :lmao:)

congrats on booking the trip early, the airfares are just too great to resist.

we have a king suite booked at HOJO's as well, and from all accounts should be good, sound great and if the video on youtube of the queen room is any guide, the rooms are much nicer than i anticipated.

shuttergirl, the bags in the link are similiar but not quite. ours only have handles on the top and the only hard side are on the bottom, hard to explain, see if I can get a photo of them this weekend. We actually bought them for $20 in Hawaii, the key is they fold way down.

Wow, trust qantas to cut down the baggage allowance. I better check what AirNz is doing, always loved the 32 kgs. Oh that reminds me, we bought a luggage weigher from strandbags last trip and it was a god send. Saved so much sweat wondering if the bags are too heavy, especially for internal flights in the US. Can't say how much this was a life saver. i think it cost $40.

just checked airnz and they have the same allowance, two bags each, total 46kgs, max weight per bag 32kg. still good for 4 travellers, can have 8 cases plus carryone, might just be enough !!!

Hey Marvel, actually because of the awful fog today I played hookie and went out to DFO. I am pretty sure I saw what you are talking about. Thanks for that.

Just wondering about the Australian leg of your flights and the 2 bags per person, isn't it only one bag per person for domestic flights? How do you go flying back in if you have to fly from Sydney to here?

I bought one of those luggage weigher things online last night. I figured it would be priceless, hehe.

Hey,

Haven;t been here fora while...I keep going back to Hong Kong Disneyland!! Love the place and the people etc. and not rushed like usa.

Did a stop over for one night, 23 hours on the way home from Phuket just to swim with Goofy in the pool! Crazy!! I am going back there for Xmas, and then to Tokyo again in Febuary for my birthday.

unfortunetly the weather in Hong Kong is just too humid for me to enjoy disney.

great to hear about the bag shuttergirl. we have always flown direct from Melbourne and have always wondered what happens when you have to fly domestic back to melbourne from sydney. especially on the way back when the bags are way over the 20kg domestic limit. i am guessing that they make an allowance when you are through booked to your international.

maybe some of the others might know.
