Aussie Disneyland Planners come on in and lets plan together :)

cool I am an honorary aussie (I still get sentimental thinking about the Dreamworld "country bear" show, and the closing song "I still call Australia home") ;)

A lot of family are heading over for my niece's wedding this Sept. I do not know when we will make it back.

Anyone ever get to Boise, give me a ring....I have a guest room.

I'm sorry about Dreamworld, I really am, we tried, we just don't have the population to fund a DL. ;)

hey butterfly, we are in Vegas 14th - 19th
We are almost travelling together :rotfl:

Have you decided where to stay in Vegas yet?

ColB - we don't want a DL in Australia, then we wouldn't have as much reason to travel to the US!

Hey, if any of you guys have any questions about Customs regulations when returning to Australia, I can help with advice. ;)

110% agree with this too, I was just thinking about this very point yesterday.
DL is such a novelty and dream of so many people, if they were everywhere it just wouldn't be so magical and I doubt it would be the happiest place on earth ;)

My mum leaves for LA on Monday and she isn't even heading to Disney, what a loop :sad2:

I'm trying to talk my DH into doing Disney twice in the one trip, a couple of days there when we get to LA then a few days there before we go home, I just may be going on my own a few times (and thats ok with me )

Hehehe, funny

We got an UNBELIEVABLE deal with V Australia....so good in fact that our Dad (who loves travelling, but has not been able to go on holiday due to having his own business for about 25 yrs!!) is coming with us!! Mum has decided to stay at home with the furbabies, as she is an armchair traveller and says she has done her travelling and would rather stay at home:( (good for the fur baby babysitting situation though....especially since my fur baby is nearly 11 and is diabetic, needing blood sugar testing and insulin injections:()
We got premium economy flights for 1600 plus tax (about 1900 all up per person!!!!) When we have flown PE with Air New Zealand the last few years, it has cost us over $4000 each!!! I noticed earlier in the year when I checked V Australia's PE prices that it was $4300!!!! I actually called them twice after I had booked to double check that the $1900 Premium econ price was right, and they said it was an introductory special!:banana::banana::banana: Very cool!
I hope they are as good as Air New Zealand:confused3
Aussiedaisy and I are sitting in row 11 H and K (2 seating configuration in premium econ) and Dad wanted a window seat so he is behind us in 12 K (see seatguru.com for seating).
Very excited to be taking dad to Disneyland.......hopefully he will come back a disney convert:laughing: Can't wait to take him on Pirates, indiana and soarin'. Hopefully none are down in November:cutie: :yay: So, I will have to think up a Dis board name for dad......think I'll call him Aussiedad:wizard:
So, now it is Aussiedaisy, Youngaussienurse and Aussiedad off to Disney YAY!!:dance3:

Thats a fantastic deal, i am trying to convince my family we should go over for xmas next year or so. not having much luck yet but i will :thumbsup2

HAHA :rotfl: I'm always trying to convince my family how good a DL in Oz would be!!

I'm always just starting conversations along the lines of "You know, Disney could buy a farm somewhere near by and turn it in a DL!" I always get a funny look, but it could happen!!!

Disney in Australia?????
I remember when an amusement park closed down in Canberra in the late
80's. There were a lot of rumors around then that it would be the site for the next Disney.

Our deal.....
We picked up flights to Orlando for AU$1100 (adult fare) including taxes. Ok, it's with United, but seeing as we invested in AP's in January it was too good to pass up. We paid much much more than this in Dec08/Jan09. We will be there during the Sep/Oct school holidays.

I got my DVD - ordered it on either Sunday or Monday night, can't remember now!!!! Sent from an address in North Sydney, came with a Flight Centre flyer for Hong Kong Disney!!!!!

I started crying when I watched the DL segment. I want to go back - wish I didn't have to wait to next year. We just can't afford the time/have plans for this year.

We also watched the DisneyWorld part. I think I would like to go there too, but the extra 6 hours each way really bothers me.

But DH said he'll watch it again when he's not stressed about work, which last time that happened we were in Disneyland; and have a think about all that extra flying.

Oooh I ordered my DVD on Monday too, fingers crossed it comes soon. I can't wait to watch it.

I've just been talking to our travel agent and she has booked all of our flights and accomodation. She said she still has some prize money left over so she can include our accomodation in Disneyland free also!!!! So now we are staying in the Disneyland hotel instead of Hojo's!! I am so excited :) Has anyone satyed there before? What did you think?

Also we will be sitting in seats 34A & 34B in premium economy on this flight

http://seatexpert.com/seatmap/404/Qantas_Airways_Boeing_747_400_(16_66_40_187)/

Can anyone tell me what you think of these seats? At the moment the comments on each seat are not available but I assume it has a mixed review because seat 34 does not have a window (I think that's what the red bit is next to the window).

Thats great butterfly, I am sure you will love DLH. Some of the other threads had really good photos of the rooms it looks great.

Sharkemeister - you got a great price for the flight, yes even with United, but if you have low expectations of the service to start with you won't get a shock. They have a age policy at United which means the longer you are with the company the more choice you have on where to fly. And I have seen 60yr old hosties !! No kidding :sad2: But that said, for that price i would still fly with them, it's a very cheap.:thumbsup2

A few years ago they actually said that disney had bought land in Laverton, which is half way between Melbourne and Geelong, but it was just wishful thinking, for one thing i don't think the weather would be good enough. You cannot rely on even a month of heat in summer.

Kia ora all

Wow, what a great thread, I can't believe I've only just found it - clearly I've been working too hard but the good news is ....... we're off to Disneyland in 10 days - woo hoo !!!! :yay:

It took a while to wear my partner down but finally he said yes so before he could change his mind, I'd booked our flights and hotel. Unfortunately this was in December last year so of course, it's a whole lot cheaper now but I don't care. We're off to Disneyland in 10 days - woo hoo !!! :cool1:

Cast of characters includes myself, my partner, 2 sisters, 1 daughter (5), 4 nephews (13, 11, 10, 9), 1 neice (10), 1 mate and her son (4). As you can see, I've been busy convincing as many as I can, that going to Disneyland will be so worth it.

We're all staying at Hojos from 3 May to 11 May 2009 so if you're going to be there, give us a shout - we'll be the ones roaming around in a pack of 12. Although Disneyland will be our main focus, we'll also be visiting Sea World (and having lunch with Shamu), Universal Studios, Griffith Observatory, Hollywood, Beverley Hills, Santa Monica and the Getty Museum, before we head off to the Grand Canyon and Vegas - woo hoo !!! :cheer2:

These forums and the Unofficial Guide to Disneyland have been a treasure trove of information so a big thank you to you all who spread the magic. I'll make sure I post a trip report when we get back.

Bah, I don't like you anymore...

Have a look at seatguru.com they've got pretty good seat explanations as well.

I got my DL DVD today! Watching it now:goodvibes

The travel agent has now booked us in to the Grand Californian :) We're just waiting for it to be approved by the hotel so hopefully they have the dates free.

Does anyone know what the Grand Californian is like? How does it compare to the DLH?

I hope my DL DVD comes tomorrow! Fingers crossed!

I didn't know they were interested in Laverton? There was talk of building an amusement park at Werribee Zoo, comparing it to the Animal Kingdom in WDW, but I think it was by the gold coast people. Not going to happen, though.

As you said, the weather is too inconsistent down in Melbourne - it would have to be in Northern NSW, southern QLD.

I was so happy to see this thread this morning as I am currently helping an Australian friend plan a month-long visit to the US. Can anyone tell me about the Visa waiver form (link: https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/esta....5638D60_k87F7ABFB-C04D-D15C-6D98-EA5D0A669403)?

In her travels she'll be stopping in Honolulu for a couple of nights before hitting Los Angeles. Her travel agent said she'll need to fill this form out twice. But our main question is concerning a short jaunt to Jamaica after our week in Disney World. Will she need to fill this same form out again?

The US Customs website is the best source of info. I am pretty sure though once you do it online the first time and get approved you are granted a visa that will last for a certain time period, my guess is 6months or so, i will have a look tomorrow and hopefully can update you. just a bit flat out at the minute.
