Aussie Disneyland Planners come on in and lets plan together :)

Another tipping Q for all you tipping experts.

I have just received my confirmation from our limo company for all our various transfers. I have booked 4 transfers in total to various places. Our driver will be the same person for all 4 transfers - I like that idea :thumbsup2 So now I am wondering am I supposed to tip the guy after every single trip or just at the end? See the thing is that we won't be paying him at all because the payment is made with their head office by credit card at the end of our trip.

So is it protocol for me to give him a tip every time he takes us somewhere, or should I just give him a good tip at the end of our last trip? Also, I am wondering if giving him a tip every time will make him be nicer to us/better service :confused3

Thanks guys.

P.S. Thinking of kel77 at the moment - on her way to Disney :yay:

Personally I would tip him each trip, just in case he is sick on the final day and someone else takes his place.

:cheer2::cheer2: Well I got up at 6am this morning (should of been earlier but I didn't wake up) and booked our Fantasmic Dessert Seats, for Friday 12th Sept. I finally decided on the 9pm show as we can then stay seated for the fireworks.

We fly out to Mexico the following morning so will need to leave on the Express bus at about 6am, so I didn't want too late a night.

We are off to see David Copperfield tonight and I remember booking the tickets at the start of the year, thinking it was just before we went away and felt like the time would never get here, so we will off to Disneyland before I know it.

You're going to have a blast Kel. I can't wait to hear all about it and see loads of pics.:woohoo:

Arghhhh I just noticed an error that I have made. When I rang to book I requested Friday 12th Sept. All's good, girl makes the booking but I have just realised it is Friday 11th Sept. I just rang back but it was 8pm there and ps closes 5pm for Fantasmic. I have no idea if the girl went with the day I said or the date. She repeated it back but I now have no idea what was said and as I was thinking 12th I wouldn't of picked it up unless she said Saturday. Bum! We fly out Saturday 12th so I can't possible use the tickets if I made an error.
I will ring again at about 1am - fingers crossed it isn't a problem but I have a hunch it is.....................

I would tip separately for each trip. :)

All the best Kel, have a great time, look forward to your trip report.

I just booked baseball, Mystere, and Lion King tickets in vegas. Spent up some bucks.

Boy you guys are really great with the planning and cost calculations. It just isn't in my nature to do it, but well done.

Can you book any PS seating on email?

Wow, soooo wish l knew about this board when we were planning our trip last year!! My hubby, myself & our 9 y.o son felt the magic at Disneyland, now we are hopefully planning a trip to Disneyworld for next year.
We stayed at 2 of the parks hotels onsite (?? is that the correct term??) & was better than we had hoped.
I will be reading & posting along with you all - & if l can help anyone re the hotels or what we did more than happy to share.

Does anyone know where I can buy The Lion King and Beauty & the Beast DVDs? I have looked everywhere but no one seems to sell them??

Great site, fantastic source for info.

I have a question for anyone getting an annual pass. We are heading to Anaheim for 10 days in October and plan to go within the next 12 months again amongst other cities in the US. It makes sense for us to get a Disneyland annual pass and wondered the best way to go about it. It's likely will will be in and out of the parks most day if not all.

If I get a pass online prior to leaving and they email me the pass, do I then show that when I arrive and receive a card of some sort or is the printout my only pass that needs to last the year.

I have read some people saying they 'received' their annual pass so wondered how this works.

Thanks

I ordered an annual pass online a couple of weeks ago and opted to have it mailed to me (not knowing what they were sending).
All they sent was a small paper/card ticket which is good for one day admission. I need to go to City Hall on that day to swap it for a photo id.

Hope that helps.

They are both in the 'Disney Vault'. Beauty and the Beast is planned for rerelease in October 2010 but not sure of a date for The Lion King.
Your best bet would be amazon or ebay.....Good Luck!

Thanks. so I assume that your annual pass start date is the day you pick up the pass from City Hall at the park, rather than the date you purchase it online?

Believe it or not, eBay. Disney normally releases DVDs for a short period of time, and both of these have been discountinued. Beauty and the Beast was released for Christmas 2002 and Lion King Christmas 2003. Depending on your timing you would probably pick them up for around $20-$30.

Some Amazon.com merchants sell copies from old stock, and there may be some that will send to Australia.

I did read a while back that Disney will be releasing the catalogue on Blu-Ray but that will be staggered.

Well today is exactly 2 months to go till we leave. So when I wake up in the morning it will be officially only 1 month and a bit to go :dance3:

Has anyone else stayed at the Desert Palms and Inn in Anaheim? If so, what did you think?

It's been top of my shortlist for a while. Today the family and I attended a one day USA/Canada travel expo and there was a special for Desert Palms (amongst others), which will save us about 50% on the Expedia rate and 60-70% on the travel brochure rates. But I want to make sure it's as good as I think it is before booking.

You're two weeks ahead of us :-) I'm green with envy - however at the moment I'm still struggling with the feeling that I don't have enough time to get everything done :-)

We usually start planning our trips 12 months in advance but this time, because of the super cheap airfares, we only decided to go 3 months in advance.

Last year it took me ages to work on my touring plans for the parks at WDW. - I'm a little anal when it comes to planning :)

I agree, I feel like I don't have enough time, hehe. Only 43 sleeps here

I am obsessed with what order we should do the rides in. I just wish someone who's been there before would tell me what I should do each day I'm there, and in what order. I'm great at following plans/lists/rules but trying to work it out myself is excruciating and I can't go there with no plan, it's not in my nature :rotfl:

You know what is funny Ms. Shuttergirl, before I got on Dis it never even occurred to me that a plan was necessary in relation to rides :lmao: I think that I just thought that we would go to Disneyland, decide what we want to go on and just get on them. I figured we would have to wait but I didn't think it would be so crazy that I would need to have a ride plan mapped out.

I am a bit worried actually  Kind of wondering if I have made a bit of a mistake. I hope that I haven't spent all this money just to be constantly stuck in frustrating crowds and end up going home having not even gone on the rides we wanted to go on. :confused3 Just a bit concerned :sad2:

Anyway, that's my vent for the day. Back to being happy and excited now :dance3:

I assume so. It says the first date the voucher must be used by is Oct 29 (luckily we arrive on Oct 27). So I would be a little wary of buying it too far in advance, because of this cut-off date which probably varies according to purchase date.

I could've written this word for word.

Don't be worried - DL is the best place on earth! Just get there early in the day, collect fastpasses and have fun! It's not all about the rides - the atmosphere alone is worth the admission ;)

On our last visit when it got crazy busy in DL, we hopped over to DCA and found somewhere to relax. By far our fave was the seats at the Drawn to the Magic show (which is only on a couple of times a day so usually an empty area), we bought some fruit and sat down for a while.
