WOW.

Has anyone had these? A friend of mine was in New Orleans a couple weekends ago and picked me up a few of these and shipped them up here to me.

I had heard of pralines, (and it's pronounced prah-leens, please darlings) but it's one of those things you just can't get in Canada.

Are they EVER good. Aunt Sally's is pretty much the purveyor of the original & best known praline - made by hand right in the French Quarter.

I'm sure what I'll get at the Sassagoula food court will pale in comparison but these were just delicious. I still have a few left but they won't last long, I'll give them 48 hours... :D

The one salvation is that we're planning to go to New Orleans for New Year's Eve this year so I can stop and get my own but it's gonna be a looooooonnnnnggg wait.... *wink*

We put off a trip to Louisiana tacked on to the end of our Disney trip so we could spend another week in Orlando but I've regretted it ever since. Now after Katrina hearing that the city is starting to come back I'm inspired to go now more than ever. :)

Aunt Sallie's may just do mail order. They are really good and the shop is in a cool area.

I hope to make a trip to New Orleans sometime this year myself. We were lucky enough to go before Katrina so I'm a little leery of what we'll find. But I'll be back come no matter what!

When I lived in the south I would always buy these... *so heavenly*
But now I order them online or have my friend send me some
along with dill pickle chips!!! Yummy!!!

My friend lived in New Orleans for about 6 months about 10 years ago (in the French Quarter) and believe me, he's one of the city's biggest fans. He said some of the outlying areas made him want to cry but by and large the French Quarter and most of the Garden District are looking pretty good - I was happy to hear that and one of the big reasons we're going this year. He's coming with us when we go so it will be great to have someone who kind of knows the place ;). I've never been but always been sort of a Louisiana/Cajun-phile and can't wait (I dare say I'm as excited to go there as I am to go to Disney.... ;) ).

Wow - I thought dill pickle chips were a Canadian thing... I have a friend in SC who says he can't get them down there? I know ketchup chips are Canadian but now I don't know about dill pickle. Where abouts did you live, dfam?

Tell your friend to keep looking because I've seen them in SC as well as NC. Several of my friends LOVE them.
