My nephew is going to WDW to be part of the College Program. He is supposed to report on May 29th. My husband and son already had a trip planned for the following weekend, June 2 - 5, before we knew about our nephew's plans. Does he get any discounts on rooms or tickets that he could use for us? Would they be effective that quickly? Thanks for any information!

From what I have read, you check in on your date and then you have to attend the Traditions class. This is suppose to last like 4 days and then you can receive discounts. So, my guess is that you won't be able to get hotel discounts until around the 5 day that you are there. Maybe someone else has a little more knowledge

Yeah once you take Traditions then you can start using your discount because you will then have your Disney company I.D.

I checked in on January 11th and my Traditions class was on January 13th. Everyone has it on different days but it's not that long after your check in date.

While your nephew will get significant discounts on rooms (often 40%) it would be VERY doubtful that he could get settled, earn his potential (attend Traditions) and then learn to get into the online discount reservation area in time for him to apply this to the June stay. Also the discounts depend on availability (the earlier made of course the higher potential) and season.

As to tickets-he will receive his "silver" card which will allow him to take 3 guests in for park hopping privileges 6 times during his program. In order though for them to get in, he would have to be available with the card at the time they wanted to enter the turnstiles (once inside the park he would not have to stay with them). So I would say if first week is anything like my son's was it will be a hardship for him to carry this out. He will be very busy!
