Aulani

I heard from someone that Aulani may not be opening on time. Has anyone else heard this? I'm thinking of going to Hawaii in Sept and was hoping to try and book Aulani.

Have not heard that yet. Seeing as how I hold a reservation that would definitely be a bad thing.

I searched online and couldn't find anything so maybe the person was wrong.

The 2011 point chart on the member website and DisneyAulani.com both show 8/29/2011 as the opening date.

I would assume a phased opening and that they wouldn't book to capacity just in case. So, if they feel 25% of rooms available come August - only book to 20% for example.

If they should fall behind they can then reallocate some resources accordingly. Hopefully the early delivery of the Fantasy isn't being offset by delays in Hawaii.

Hawaii is a three or four phased opening. There aren't many rooms opening in August/September.

Have not heard anything about Aulani not opening on time. Just went by there today for a swim at the lagoon. Construction has come so far in 1 year. All scaffolding is gone from the buildings. Most of the work on the exterior of the buildings are done (painting,trim work,etc.). Seems they are working on the last of the railings for the rooms. Windows and doors to the lanais are all installed on the buildings. The only scaffolding is for the volcano in the pool area. They are starting the final grading of the entrance and grounds and surrounding areas. Will post another update with pics when I stop by again.

I am pretty sure phase 2 will be open in 2012 and not 2011. I think it was a misprint as the POS states 2012. Phase 3 is almost the whole diamond head wing of Aulani. It is close to 2/3 of the diamond head wing.
