Just wondering if anyone knows at Aulani will Disney off the free transportation from the airport?

Also will you be able to book "excursions" such as a bike tour, helicopter riders etc at the desk? Or will that be on your own.

Just trying to decide if I would need to rent a car.

There has been no notice of any kind of transportation to / from the hotel.

Aulani staff sent an email out a couple weeks ago stating.....

Dear ChiSoxKeith's Family:

Hello and thank you for being among the very first to book a stay at Aulani! Magical things are happening in Hawai‘i. And we're thrilled that you're going to be a part of this whole new kind of Disney enchantment at Aulani.

Every day new wonders are springing to life to give you the Hawaiian vacation you've always dreamed of, with the perfect touch of Disney magic.

Be sure to keep an eye on your email between now and your stay! As soon as it's available, we'll give you all the information you need to book spa experiences, dining reservations, exciting excursions, kids' activities and more. In the meantime, you can explore all the amazing things there are to experience at Aulani when you visit disneyaulani.com.

Mahalo lui noa,

Your friends at Aulani

Will let you know if we hear anything more. We are leaning towards renting a car there for our stay.

I would think if Disney does offer transportation to Aulani from the airport it will be similar to the transportation at Disneyland where you pay fee per person. The Aulani website has some transportation information for use around the island. http://resorts.disney.go.com/aulani-hawaii-resort/about-aulani/location/

The resort will have a Car Rental desk:

Car Rental
Renting a car is one of the best ways to get around the island. Visit the Rental Car desk next to the 3rd floor lobby for assistance. Hours are limited.

I see they have clarified that DVC Members will not be paying for parking at Aulani. I wonder if we'll need our DVC member card at check in?

Parking
Both self-parking and valet parking are available to Guests for a fee. Disney Vacation members enjoy complimentary self-parking.

And it looks like they do plan to offer tours from Aulani.

Excursion Tour Desk
Book your excursions with the help of our staff in the lobby on the 3rd floor.

I think it is just too soon for details as to what excursions will be available. I heard that there will be a trolley stop nearby the resort. Oahu is an island that you can easily drive, take the bus or trolley to get around.

I am hoping to go next year. Let us know when all the info is released! I always rent a car in FL, just makes me feel more freedom having my own "wheels".
