I just noticed on the Member Services website that the "standard hotel room" category is now included as a booking category at Aulani with dates starting now. Every date I checked within this category showed availablilty. I thought I would let everyone know in case you have a waitlist at Aulani.

I just switch to this ... 50 more square feet and two queen beds at 30 points less. What a deal

I just saw you post on my earlier thread! I thought that the hotel rooms weren't going to be available for points until 2015! Does anyone know if these are truly bookable for 2014? I might book the hotel room and keep my OV waitlists active (since those are what we really want). Hmmmmmm.....

I just changed my booking for the end of June 2014. My kids are going to be so happy not to sleep on the pullout.

Yes, they can be booked for 2014 dates. You can book them using the on-line booking tool on the member website.

For those thinking of switching remember that the hotel rooms will not have a little kitchenette, I assume, thus the lower points?

Just checked the info for the standard hotel room. Small fridge, tea kettle (electric I assume) and coffee pot (pod style, so I guess a keurig?). No mention of separate sink, microwave, toaster. View of parking lot or convention center or parking garage. For month of February 17 pts. per night vs. 18 pts. for standard DVC studio. Although there is nearly nothing available for DVC rooms, but some availability for the hotel rooms. Wonder why they decided to include these rooms? Good news for some people that have not been able to get in.

From the Point Charts page at DVCMember.com:
A small number of Villas were converted into additional Resort amenities as part of the expansion at Aulani. To supplement the inventory, Members will see a new room category reflected in the 2015 Aulani vacation points charts – "Hotel Room". Reservations are scheduled to begin late January 2014. Call Member services for more details.

Is it guaranteed to be two queen beds? On the regular hotel website it says hotel rooms are two queens or a king and pullout sleeper. I was just wondering if it was stated that the dvc hotel room category would be guaranteed two queen beds?

Thanks for the info. We booked a pool view suite but could save 42 pts by switching to standard room. But we like the wet bar and microwave and save money on food by having those items. Does anyone know if there's a toaster? It isn't listed under room features.

The information on DVCMember.com says two queen beds.

Standard hotel room didn't pop up as an option to select for our travel dates. Anyone else have this happen?

Interesting thing - I logged out, then went back in, and this time standard hotel room showed up as the first option.
For our June dates, one day is not available so will probably just keep our pool view and not go on a wait list.

Hopefully this isn't a really stupid question, but does this mean that even people that bought on the resale market can book the hotel room category? Would it fall into the "Disney Collection" portion of the Member Getaways Program which doesn't transfer? I'm trying to help a friend out that bought DVC resale and I am not an owner. TIA :)

The 'Hotel Room' category that's been made available is not part of the Disney Collection. It's available to all both resale and direct purchasers.
