Aulani Resort vs Aulani Vacation Club?

Thanks! Box as in 1 load or multiple load box?

Single load box only for villas with a washer and dryer. Studios use the public laundry and are not given any laundry detergent. The laundry is free only to DVC members though (tokens are given out at the check in counter).

If using the kitchen is important to you then it would be helpful to know of a Costco is within driving distance to Aulani ! I find that I could get 2 small loads of laundry washed with just that ONE box of tide which they provide!

If you are doing more than a load or two just goto target by costco and you can buy extra single load tide boxes for a buck or so.

I just brought some laundry soap from home and some stain treatment spray... put some scoops in a smallish ziploc container and then all in a sealed baggie, packed in my checked luggage and we were good. It was super easy and nice to have the soap that I know will work well.

Thanks, yeah I'm packing a few of the Purex 3-in-1 laundry sheets. Worse case I bring them home!

Good info to know!
We are planning on booking a trip for the 1st week of June 2014. Not sure how far out to book as we are not DVC members. I also didn't realize we could book a DVC room. It's a big plus that we would get housekeeping as cash customers as well.

Now that more time has passed, what is the difference between these rooms? We are considering either purchasing an Aulani contract or just booking with Disney for a stay next Summer. Love DVC, so might be worth it, but if the rooms are inferior, we would just book a hotel room.

As this thread is now almost 10 year old the previous posters might not be around any more! It might be easier to start a new one. Which rooms are you comparing? Are you looking at the difference between hotel rooms and studios, or just the difference depending on how you pay?

For example, both DVC and cash guests can book the DVC rooms (mainly studios and 1, 2 and 3 bed villas), so you could be in the same room regardless of how you pay. The differences would be those general to DVC, such as you do get free parking but you don't get daily cleaning as a DVC member. There are also rooms that are not part of the DVC inventory, such as the 1 and 2 bedroom suites. These can only be booked by cash guests and have different layouts and facilities from the DVC villas.

I wouldn't purchase an Aulani contract unless you are planning on staying there most years, but that might need a thread of it's own. :)
