I stayed at Aulani in June and you are asking good questions.
1) You will have to pay for a taxi or car service to get from the airport to Aulani. The resort recommends Cloud 9 Limo. I paid about $129 each way with the Aulani discount. I know that seems steep, but they met me at the gate and had bottled water for me. Your other option would be to do Charley's taxi, but I didn't see any good reviews about them.
2). I did most excursions on my own and rented a car at Aulani for a couple of days. This was cheaper than renting it at the airport. Check the excursions you want to do. Most of the excursions Aulani has require you to get to Waikiki on your own to pick up the tour. Waikiki is about 30-45 minutes from Aulani depending on the traffic.
3) I did Pearl Harbor on my own instead of doing a tour. Other people who had done tours there said they felt rushed and couldn't do it the way they wanted. Pearl Harbor has the Arizona Memorial, USS Bowfin, USS Missouri and Pacific Aviation Museum. If you only want to see the Arizona Memorial, a tour may be ok.
4). If you are planning to eat at the Aulani restaurants, make your reservations online now. The restaurants do fill up.
