Here, now, and overall lovely but one thing continue to stick out: the fact that they did away with the lit tiki torches around the property at night really diminishes the atmosphere.

Fire = Liability

I believe they still have tiki torches in front of the resort…

Just got back from a week at Aulani! We stayed in a grand villa on the top floor of Ewa tower since alternative was a low floor in Waianae tower. No regrets! Great view all week and the sun was hardly an issue (especially due to rough weather from the Kona low). No whales though. Next time!

I love that you have a positive post given the weather while you were there. The top floor! Amazing!

Are the Waianae grand villas considered a better location than Ewa?

We've done both and it really doesn't matter. The Waianae tower is a bit shorter walk and is more handy to the parking garage. But it's really not a huge difference.

I went to a DVC member update in Waianae in their grand villa they use at the 2nd to highest floor. I think the view is similarly great to top floor on Ewa tower where I was staying. Overall, I would stay in either tower in a high floor!
