Aulani &/or Cabungahouse Points?

So my thought process has always been to add Aulani points (hopefully sub Aul) to my June VGC UY (west of WDW), but that's just silly, right?? Why would I try to combine VGC points with an Aulani trip? (isn't there an issue with combining WDW points with other regions, I think I remember something like that)

Technically, SSR or any SAP would be even better for Aulani at 7 months (in my Sept UY), & could also be used as Cabin points too?
My UY for WDW is Sept, & VGC is June (west of WDW), so is there a reason I would want Aulani points to be in my June UY (besides wanting to possibly go before Sept?)

Trying to wrap my head around what I would want buy to use for Aulani as well as Cabin points.. like SSR, or more SAP or BLT (or CCV which could be used before 7 months for a Cabin) and in my usual Sept UY, not June.

I just made a new saved search on DVCforLess, but now I'm rethinking it. lol

I have used so many Aulani-s points to book WDW and VGC. They are my cheapest points. I have used a combination of Aul and other points for one booking.

You don’t want SSR because that place is 👎🏻 You want Aulani because it’s a glorious resort to stay at.

This year 7 month booking has been very very limited compared to what I experienced last year. 7 months won’t get you guaranteed the best option. Often you’ll have to split stay room types.

Stop pooping on SSR!! It makes me feel sad as I love it!! 🥰

I now live right next to WDW and only occasionally use my points for stays on property. But I do save them for Aulani trips. I've got over 700 points of which only 100 are Aulani points. Have no problem at all using the non-aulani points at the 7-month window. It may help that I'm booking GV's though.

Time of year and accommodation size/view are definitely huge factors.

Sorry I'm confused, why WOULDN'T you use AUL-s as cabungahouse points and get 11 month priority for Aulani for the summer AND also get some of the best value DVC points? The only reason I'd go for SSR is the cheaper buy in cost and if you didn't care about AUL because home resort priority at SSR is about as valuable as a wooden nickel (sorry @JackosinDIS )

I think you are thinking about modifying reservations.

If you book at WDW, VB or HHI you can modify to any of those resorts.

If you book at VDH or VGC you can only modify between those two.

AUL can only modify within the resort.

Not so much the trip, but the points... Just makes more sense in my head (to have same use year), I would actually go to West Coast or Hawaii in June, July or Aug... I'd even consider April UY for AUL, but then I'm just making SAP+ points harder to use in WDW with the rest of my points, like if I wanted to get a cabin for a few nights. (wouldn't even consider going to WDW in Aug or Sept. lol)

I guess I would love to combine the trip, but not the points. (VGC>AUL)

Also to add, if you able to get a subsidized contract I would expect the value of it to hold longer than SSR as well. But just a prediction from lil ole me.
Yep, & Sub AUL is the answer.... but in which UY.. June (VGC) or Sept (WDW)? Sept, right?

Yes Sub would be the best answer to the question for sure, but sub AUL contracts are a pain in the *** to find. lol (plus it needs to match my other UY which I guess is the more important question, June with VGC or Sept with WDW?)

Is there an obvious way to tell if a contract is subsidized? I miss having some of these filters on https://www.dvcforless.com/
I wish.!!

Yes, that must have been it. So not really a concern for this situation. Good to know! :)

I would go with whichever you can get a sub contract in unless you it will 100% conflict with when you travel. Id have to go some research to see which has mire sub June or Sept

Nobody filters for SUB. The first clue is a larger per point cost. 2nd clue is use year. 3rd often brokers will add in the listing notes that it is subsidized. I bought 2 that were not notated as sub but they were.

More likely to be able to use at 7 months at WDW then VGC so I vote September

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a September AUL-S. If so, that would be incredibly rare.

Me either. I was trying to find the breakdown of Sub UY but have not been able to locate it. March and February have a lot. December has some Ive seen.

Also @Chili327 and @Sprinkles&Sprints I should've clarified aggregators don't filter but some brokers do.
