Aulani June Bookings at 7Mo?

We’ve gone the last 4 years…. we already had one multi-generational trip in a Grand Villa and will be going with a separate set of grandparents this June…some of the points are SAPs that I have used at Grand Cal or the Disneyland Hotel….

I’ve got a very busy Disney calendar over the next 11 months …

February- Disneyland day with my Mom
March - Walt Disney World for Spring Break at BWV and VGF
June- Aulani
August- San Diego and Disneyland at VGC
October- Disneyland Halloween at VGC
January- Disneyland Christmas at VDH

So….we might swap out a good amount of points for an Adventures by Disney to Europe in 2026 and go easy on the theme parks…. but we’ll see… we will have MKs until August 2026….

I'm jealous! We only have December - VGC. Then probably June 2026 - VGC.

I wish Aulani would be easier to get to for us. But it's so much flying. Still hoping to go someday though!

from the Bay area AUL is easier than Orlando. There are almost double the number of direct flights and I can go out of more airports. Its about the same flight time.

I was having this conversation with a co-worker on the east coast about Hawaii, and they had never been, because it was so much easier to go to Florida, or the Caribbean.

It's not a day trip, but it's much easier for us.

Aulani is much easier for us vs WDW too, being in the Vancouver area. It's a 6 hour nonstop flight. Sadly very rare to have nonstop flights to Orlando!

We're in Nebraska....so the only "easy" is Denver or Minneapolis. 🤣
Actually, we are able to do a 3 hour direct to Orlando, which is nice. Though we still prefer Disneyland even with the crappier travel options. I don't think I've ever been on a flight longer than 3 hours so the 5.5-6 hour one to Hawaii does worry me a bit. I would love to get one of those fancy seats I've seen on Hawaiian Airlines though!

But based on things said here, guessing if we want to do Aulani in June someday, we'll maybe have to rent points instead to book early.

I've been quiet but here's how this went:
  • started a few weeks in advance, trying to walk a 7-month reservation. I was able to walk for a week or so until I hit a section that booked up with home resort reservations. I was never able after that to get something on the day it opened. up at 5 am for 2 weeks, no bookings
  • in the meantime I made a cash booking for the minimum number of days we wanted to be there, figuring I could hedge with that.
  • I kept checking back daily and I was pretty down as the days through our trip were opening and showing booked within seconds at 8 EST.
  • on the day after our last day, I got 3 days of our trip in a 1BR (wanted a 2BR, never materialized, were showing booked weeks in advance of 7 mo)
  • got a day outside of our range as well and then put in a waitlist for the remaining 2 days of the trip.
  • checked back every once in a while for openings.
  • Today got cleared from the waitlist for the final 2 days in a 1BR, and member services is merging our reservations. I had considered doing one way increments but I was ok waiting on 2.
  • It's about 2-3 weeks after the 7 month window now.

so. was I able to book on points at 7 months in june? Yes. Did it take a fair bit of effort? Yes.
