Aulani in June 2014 - how do I book?!

I have been trying to get a 2 bedroom standard viewat aulani for June for a week (7 mo window). The days are all booked for the entire week each day I check. Is it possible to get a full week or if I waitlist will it come through? Can I do more then one waitlist or can I only do one if that's all the points I have (does this make sence!) We were really hoping to go in June but now I think it won't happen! There are ocean view rooms but we don't have enough points. Do you think availability would be better for a 1 bedroom and studio? We don't have to be right near each other but close would be nice? What should I do?

Not to sound like a Debbie Downer here BUT you are facing a couple of problems. First, in early June the points are lower so it books up fast. 2nd, I think there are only 27 standard view 2 bedroom villas in the whole resort. Naturally because of the lower points the standard view units are the first to book up - esp. by Aulani owners prior to the 7 month window. Many non-Aulani owners don't stand a snowballs chance of scoring a standard view in a popular season (unless you go to a type of unit that has more than 27).

It never hurts to waitlist but in the meantime if you realllllly want to stay at Aulani you should probably go ahead & book SOMETHING while it is still available because the rest of the resort WILL book up. Whether that means a different type of unit, a higher view (maybe buy some 1-time use points or get a transfer from another owner) OR hate to say it but cut a night off your stay. If you can do a 1-bedroom and a studio combo I think your odds would be higher (and the points less).

I had a hard time booking for this last June. I had to book OV 1 bedroom which was nice but a splurge. I was only able to get 5 nights which turned out great since we stayed the rest of our trip in Waikiki. Book as soon as the reservation system opens EST!

I had the same challenge last November when I was trying to book Aulani for mid-June. Took me days of trying and plenty of frustration before I was finally able to snag a room for later in June than I was hoping for. More points, but I was just thrilled to get something. Loved Aulani!

As a newbie, what should you do in this case? Can you just book the days that do show as available and waitlist for the others? I'm not sure how these things work or what "walking back the reservation" means, so apologies in advance.

For the good of the order, I was able to book a 1BR for mike-June at the 7 month mark this week. I was completely prepared for a debacle like that described above by travel bug, but the online booking worked fine. Had to get an Island Gardens instead of a Standard view, however. Just wanted to share a good experience.
