  • The WDW character breakfasts are better, don't bother!

They do the character breakfast every day except Monday I believe. I think it is around $32 for an adult and around $27 for non-character buffet, they have all the info on the Aulani website including menus.

just found it right at the bottom of the menu! thanks Meemoo.

Coming from Aus, do you find it easy enough to make reservations when you can't just make them online?

Also, are ama ama and Makahiki the only breakfast options?

I thought the food was as good as WDW, though a greater proportion of it was food that would appeal to international guests, so not all of it was up my alley. Of course it was very pricey, because character meals at any Disney property are expensive, and then you add to that the fact that eating out in Hawaii is more expensive than the mainland. And the youngest in our group was 12 years old, so all the antics designed to entertain the little ones were lost on us. Overall, it was nice, but for our group not worth what we paid, and like others have said, it's easy enough to have character encounters around the property without doing the character meal.

They are the only table service breakfast options on site. I know the Olelo room was serving a continental breakfast, but I had read that it would be closing once the Ulu Cafe opened. Can anyone confirm? And does the Ulu Cafe have breakfast? And what time does it open?

We're doing the breakfast buffet but without characters since that's the day it best fit into our schedule. We're big breakfast fans, so hopefully it will be worth it!

You missed your chance. The character breakfast is now 7 days a week at Makahiki.

I made my reservation last month for Monday, the one day without characters. It was divinely wonderful! But I can see why Disney changed it--there were only 3 or 4 other tables occupied that morning, while the rest of the week there was a line at the check-in stand, people waiting all around, and every table in the place full.

How do you know this? I was able to reserve a non-character breakfast on a Monday this month. I just checked reservations and put in a Monday, it still says "character breakfast not available this day." So as far as I can tell from the website, Mondays in October are still non-character days.

I don't mind if it's a character breakfast, but our kids didn't care, so I picked the day that worked best and cost less. Hopefully we'll only be charged for a non-character meal even if it has changed.

The character breakfasts on Mondays begin in December, I believe. So October Mondays should not have characters.
