If your TAT was in the low $50s, then it appears that Aulani is using the original maintenance fee amount of $4.31/point in computing the tax. Based on the TAT formula, and the TAT chart published by DVD months ago, the estimated tax rate for a 1-bedroom Ocean View villa is $7.18 a night.

Has DVD told you if they will subidize the tax amount as well as the MF amounts for the original owners?

No, they have not communicated anything. $7.18 sounds about right, I know it was under $55. I'll double check.

I called today to find out about our tax for our july trip. I was told it will be $34 per night and I'm staying 14 nights. I'm staying in a 2br island view and paid with points. There goes my budget...:confused3

There must be some miscommunication going on in your situation. The Hawaii TAT for a two-bedroom Island View villa should be $13.61 per night.

The villa is costing you 63 points per night. The TAT formula is as follows:

1/2 of the Annual Maintenance Fee ($5.96/2 = $2.98) * 63 (number of points per night) * 0.0725 (TAT rate) = $13.61 per night.

See http://www.dvcnews.com/index.php/resorts/aulani-villas/faqs for more information.

By the Way, an Ocean View Grand Villa in July costs $34.36 per night in TAT. Perhaps Aulani is upgrading you to a Grand Villa???:):)

Oh a Grand Villa would be oh so nice. That IS on my bucket list. How did they know??:rotfl2: I think your other idea of $13.61 sounds better. Each time I call the resort to get a simple answer it turns out they give me the wrong info. I should just stick to asking disboarders as they know more. :thumbsup2
