Heading to Aulani in a month and wondering what kind of signal/srvc I will get on my iPhone. Anyone use theirs to call Home while there? Any astronomical charges from calling from there?

As a Verizon Wireless customer, I can't answer about AT&T from personal experience. However, the Verizon Wireless service at the Ko Olina Resort (where Aulani is located) is flawless.

As far as possible "astronomical charges" charges are concerned, Hawaii is one of 50 states. Assuming you have a typical AT&T plan with nationwide coverage, the cost should be no different than calling from New Jersey, Florida, Illinois, or California.

For the quality of AT&T coverage, the AT&T Coverage Viewer [click here] categorizes voice at the Ko Olina Resort area as "Best" (with service provided by AT&T itself, not just by a partner) and shows data coverage as 4G LTE (AT&T's fastest mobile Internet speeds).

AT&T coverage was great at Aulani. No issues at all. No extra costs as well, just like being in any other state.

I concur. I was at Aulani last weekend and coverage was fine. I haven't received or reviewed my phone bill but I've been to Hawaii before I don't recall any out of the ordinary charges.

Hi! We'll be at Aulani then too! ALOHA!!:cool1:

(That's all - sorry for the thread hijack. I have no knowledge of phone rates - just excited about the trip!) :beach:

Thanks everyone! I'm one of those people that like to stay connected during vacation (as opposed to my husband who wants to fall off the face of the earth!).

We are there June 29th-July 3rd... you? I'm getting excited... haven't done all my usual 'planning' and research for this trip that I usually do for WDW, etc... so I'm feeling a little random... but hey, random in Hawaii is nothin to cry about! :)

Ditto!! DW and I were there in September, 2012 and no problems at all with AT&T cellphone service in either tower. You might not recognize the cell towers though! Here is one just outside the Kualoa Ranch.

I get it. I have to bring my work phone and laptop (just in case of something... but hopefully not needed!), so I've asked them to check on the service there. Speaking of which, I don't think I have their answer back yet... (Note to self...)

We arrive on June 26th and leave July 5th. We're quite excited and have been checking out the excursions, but need to figure out what we'll decide to do and how much they all cost. Our 13 DS is quite the daredevil. He suggested skydiving. I kabashed that, but we may allow parasailing... Both he and DD9 would love to swim with dolphins. That's an expensive one, but we'll see.

It's so exciting though! We're really looking forward to it! Maybe we'll see you there. It looks like you have 2DD? What are their ages? I see the potential for swimming pool friends. :)
