Just found out my kid's middle school made it for Science Olympiad nationals in Augusta, Georgia this year! Any recommendations for sightseeing/things to do/hotels near the ASU campus?

It's not exactly a tourist mecca. Don't expect too much from it.

That being said go downtown to Riverwalk (a few miles from ASU campus)
The College is in a residential area with old houses. Very pretty -but not anything to do right there at it

There is a history museum and an art museum on the river.
Also the Fort Discovery Science Center.
I will post some links

Yeah-I thought the same thing but thanks for the info. I was like Augusta? What's there to do? LOL

If you want shopping or restaurant recommendations let me know

We call it DIS-gusta around here. Yech, my husband has business there every other month and hates it, just hates it!

If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. It's not that bad. We are the second largest city in Georgia. We are in a very good location actually. We can be at the beach in 2 hours and the mountains in 3 hours. It's what you make of it. :goodvibes

Oh for the love of god. I don't think it is against dis policy to say I hate Augusta, I do, I hate it. I lived there for 4 years while in school, and am happy to say it is OVER. I hate it for my husband that he has to conduct business there.

Georgia is a lovely state, but I don't classify disgusta to be a part of the beauty....sorry.

South Carolina is very close to it and there are many lovely things to do there.

To each his/her own I suppose. I happen to love it here too.:goodvibes

Well, It may not be against the rules. But it isn't very nice.

The town does have its good and bad parts. Maybe you haven't seen some of the nice historical areas? Housing is cheap. Tons of restaurants and shopping. Lots of golf too.

OP let me know if you have any more questions

The PP comments don't bother me. I grew up in Cleveland and everyone curls up their nose when you tell them and there's tons of stuff to do there. Clarabelle-I'm looking into the art museum-one of my favorite things to do-and the canal ride. Thanks for the input!
