August????

we did mid August trip a few years ago right before kids started school, crowds were manageable, yes hot and humid but avoid by using RD and evenings, take mid day break to resort pool if needed, and while in park use shade and avoid long standing in the direct sun (for parades and rides), lunch and shopping in A/C as well.

My daughter's suggestion... wear flip-flops. They don't get hot and sweaty like sneakers do. The dry off quickly after rain storms and Splash Mountain. That's all we pack. Of course, mom always has ones with some arch support!
Yes wear something that will be good for walking through puddles of water . We got off the monorail our last trip right after a downpour and walked through water ankle deep :crazy2:

We went this past August and although it was HOT it wasn't as bad as I expected. August is now my favourite of the times we've gone and we're doing August again this year :)

We've been once at the end of July/beginning of August (1st trip) and another at the end of August--what were we thinking indeed! It was so hot and humid and we needed to take long afternoon breaks. I felt like we missed out on so much leaving the parks, but it was needed. We will not be going this time again. My mom wore her cool towels and they helped her. Everyone keeps saying to drink tons of water, but you are sweating so much, you need to replenish the salt as well. We drank two bottles of water and then a bottle of Powerade.

So true on the electrolytes. I ended up going to First Aid with a migraine. They gave me Powerade, but my day was pretty much over at that point.

We did take frog toggs but never used them. We had to have a misting spray bottle with ice water in it though. That is what kept us going. The heat didn't bother me as much as the stinky sweating :rotfl:. I hate to be sweaty.
