August vs. October what do you think?

I just saw the new August rates which would allow me to afford the AKL for our family of 5! That is pretty exciting to me!!! We also could pull the kids out for a few days and go in October, the plus there is the crowds would be less and not as hot! Unfortunately, I don't see any great October discounts, so we probably would stay at POR.

What are your thoughts? Are there ever any October discounts???

I don't know how people plan their trips without this board! I'm addicted!!!!!

in the past there have been October discounts. They should be released July/August according to mousesavers.com historical trends. We are planning an Oct trip for several reason. To avoid the Heat, humidity and crowds during the summer months. We also want to see MNNSHP.

Hi Lisa!

I used to live in the Toledo area... greetings!

August is hot hot hot!!!! (Basically like the hottest days in Toledo...but you're standing on black top in huge crowds to make the experience even more memorable.) The last time I went in August, we stayed at our resort and swam until at least 3:30. Then we'd hit the parks and stayed until they closed, just to avoid the worst of the heat.

October discounts aren't certain, but I'd stay in a moderate in October anytime vs. going in August. Just depends on how much your family can take the heat.

I would definately choose October over August. The main reason being the heat followed closely by the crowds! There will probably be discounts out then but if not I would still choose a moderate in October.

We have a thread started looking for October/Fall AP rates which have not come out yet. So don't be discouraged when looking for a discount. Being from the northeast I have to agree with the others and say October. I took DD last June for a quick trip and it was brutal (the heat). We always travel in October and have always had the most fantastic weather. Good luck on your choice.

We just got back from WDW last night. GO IN OCTOBER! It's much too hot there in the summer. We stayed at the Poly which was lovely, but personally I would have rather been at a value resort if it meant going without the heat and crowds.

August: We are going soon and will be there in august still! We get to enjoy the mass crowds ! and the outrageous heat ! My hair should frizz to a mass of fuzz in no time flat! I really am looking forward to these great points. But that is the beast of a summer vacation!

October: I miss october. nice crowds, mnsshp, warm & sunny days. I really liked october. It is premeium prices at disney but for a good reason. BUT remember: If your resort stay starts in the value time you keep the value price. = If value season ends sept 31 Start vacation Sept 31 for 1 week or 2 week and you pay the value price, not the premeium prices. Definately something to think about, if possible.
