We will be in WDW Aug 8 - 17. OK, OK, I know it will be HOT and there will be CROWDS. But will we be able to accomplish our mission of a relaxed vacation? We will use the early mornings (a couple of times) and if they still have them the extended evening hours (most of the time). We plan on hitting the parks, going back to our camper at Fort Wilderness after lunch-hit the pool and AC, then return to the parks later in the day/night.

We will have 2 teen (14 & 15) boys with us, believe it or not they tend to be easy to deal with. We will let them tour on their own when they want. I have a feeling they will stick close by if our touring plan and fastpass timing work out.

If you have any tips please post — best times to hit which rides, which ride we will really need a fast pass for, and which not to waste a fast pass on (lines move fast already, etc).

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Aug is a great time to go and FW is the best place to take boys. We took ours (13 and 18) last Aug. They too were easy to deal with. It was their first time being on their own in the parks and they loved it. We were concerned so we had them in the same park as us but they were off on their own. They were very responsible. They never missed a deadline. We usually saw them on the line ahead of us.

FW is a great place to let them explore. We were in the 1500 loop right across from the pool and that is where they were whenever we were looking for them, usually playing video games.

This is the week we went two years ago and the crowds were not that bad but with the new offer I don't really know. We went the week after last year and with that offer the crowds really weren't that bad since many southern schools are back in session by the 15th.

Have fun

donac -- Thanks for the advise. DH, DS and I went to WDW in Oct 2001 but DS best friend has never been. He is a GREAT kid so I want everything to be fun/easy/relaxing/fun/fun/fun. At one point we were not sure DH would be able to go this year, I asked DS if he would like to go without Dad and stay in a hotel, he said he only wanted to stay at FW when we go to WDW so we could schedule the trip when Dad could pull the camper. (too big for me -- I can go forward, it's the backward part that kills me)

mmorizio -- the article was great! Thanks for your time.

Thanks again

Lisa
