We'll be back at our happy place the first week of August. The weather is one thing that has me a bit worried(we'll be taking cooling towels and breaks during the worst part of the day). Looking online, it looks like the average temps during the first week of August are in the upper 80's- low 90's. Is this true? Where we live, early July through mid August is usually when we see 100+ degrees. Upper 80's and low 90's would be a nice little break from 100's.

Hopefully that is what you'll get.:flower1: But it can vary - we happenend to be in DL when LA had its hottest day in recorded history and that was in September. Downside - very very hot...upside...empty park! We managed to have a pretty good day regardless.

It sounds like the climate you come from will have you well prepared for any heat - the only exception could be if it's more humid. We honestly find anything above 85 uncomfortable in the parks - it always seems warmer in the parks to us than the same temperature if we were home, and that is due to the addition of humidity. We were there in May of 2013 and it reached 95 - well that was very uncomfortable - time to head back to the pool type weather. It is great how many indoor rides there are though that allow you to escape from the heat!!

If you're used to WDW in July/August, is it similar, better or worst?

It should be about the same temp wise but with much lower (comparatively to Florida anyway) humidity... Or at least that's my understanding. I sure hope so because we almost melted last August in Florida - it was our third August trip and I swear it's gotten hotter every time we've gone.

We are from Arizona so we are used to the heat. We went the end of August last year and it was crazy hot and humid! We went first thing in the mornings and took breaks during the afternoon but we were still beat up by the heat. We bought 2 of those water fans and those were a life saver. It was still hot and humid in the evenings, I remember dripping sweat and it was nighttime! We had a great time on our trip but honestly the heat really took some of the magic away for us (and that's saying a lot cuz I love love love Disneyland). We drank lots of water but one afternoon my oldest son started to have heat stroke. He was feeling sick to his stomach, he was dizzy and he seemed very confused and almost combative. Thankfully we got him in air conditioning and pumped lots of water into him and after about 20 minutes he was doing a lot better. I honestly will never go back during August ever again. I am not trying to be negative, I am just giving you our experience and opinion. Again, I am from Arizona, born and raised so I am used to the heat (don't love it but am used to it). But I think it was quite humid that week we went and I am definately not used to humidity! :scared: I never saw what the actual temps were but the CMs were saying it was in the 100's.

I agree. This past year at DLR was far more humid than I ever remember it being before. Still not as bad as the humidity at WDW, but worse than I ever remember it being before. Coming from a climate that is rarely humid, it always gets me when I have to deal with it on vacation.

I will definitely keep my fingers crossed for low humidity. I can take the dry heat, but high humidity is so miserable at even 80°.

We'll be testing several different cooling towels before we go and be taking the best with us. Afternoon breaks will be happening every day as well.

Thanks for all the input.
