Hi we will be going to Disney August 12-19 to celebrate my daughter's b-day.
As soon as we get back, my kids go back to school. Our starting day will be Monday, August 21, 2006. We are busy buying all the back to school supplies as well as their clothing. Who else is traveling and when do you all go back to school? Does anyone know when students go back to school in Orlando?

See ya there! :wave2:

We are going at the same time but our kids don't start this year till Sept 5th that is the first time here in this part of PA that I ever remember that happening

We come back from WDW on Labor Day and the boys will be starting back the next day. So as much as they are looking forward to WDW, they are a bit disappointed because that means summer vacation is over.

We have been buying backpacks and lunchbags and clothes and well. Tennis shoes will be bought before the trip.

Catira and mseg16222- have fun on your trips. We will be following you shortly.

Most of the central Florida counties go back next week with school starting on August 7th or 9th..depending on the county.

We live an hour away from new orleans, LA and we start school Aug. 9th. We leave for Disney tomorrow morning and return on the 8th. :cool1:

Our schools in Hall county (North Ga) start, Friday the 4th. Many of the surrounding Atlanta counties start next week

We're going Aug 13-20 and my DS starts school August 28. We're all excited to go, but DS will miss 1 week of football practice and band practice.

I've been trying to get all school supplies bought, sport equipment, etc..., but packing for Disney is a lot more fun! :thumbsup2

Our trip is Aug. 16-22 and my boys go back to school on Aug. 25. Sounds like a lot of us are squeezing in last-minute summer trips! :thumbsup2

I just finished buying school supplies, backpacks and shoes for school! Wew! Now all thats left is meet the teacher on the 3rd! Then Mon they start school. Our trip is Aug 25-30th..

We go down Aug 5th-12th, and I start school on Sept 6th. So I have plenty of time afterwards for getting prepared for school. :sad2: I don't want to go back!!

We go to WDW August 23 - 28 . . .kids return to school on August 31st.

We won't be doing any supply shopping until Labor Day Weekend, since the last few years we've gone before school started we ended up having to go back because they needed additional supplies . . .For the most part, they have all the clothes they need to start school with since colder weather doesn't arrive until mid-October . . .

But here in CT our tax free week starts August 20th, so I'm sure I'll get a few things before we leave . . . how's that for contradicting myself? :rotfl:

August 12-20th and my two sons return to school August 25. So they have a few days to rest after the trip.

We will also be there from Aug. 16-22 and my son starts back to school on Aug. 25. We will get back just in time for his "meet the teacher" day on the 23rd.

Teacher in-service starts Wednesday, August 23 for me, with the kids coming on Monday, August 28. We'll be in WDW August 13-21--which is why I've spent the last four weekday mornings at school trying to get things ready. I know we'll have a fantastic time, but I'm also dreading coming right back from a vacation and having to jump into teaching a new school year and all the work that comes along with the beginning of the year. Couldn't pass up free dining though!

Schools here in Michigan all go back this year on Sept. 5th. Years ago, our district always went back the Wednesday after Labor Day. That was great. Then several years ago they started going back around the last week of August, along with most other districts. The tourism industry really suffered and they have been trying for years to get legislation passed to have all districts in the state go back after Labor Day. It will make the summer seem a little longer. I only have 1 child left in the public school system (1 is starting his second year of college and my oldest is a middle school teacher. My daughter starts high school this year.

We are going to WDW Aug. 15-23, so we will still have a couple of weeks after we get back until school starts.

Us too! Not your exact dates, but we are squeezing in a trip before school. We are going 8/17-8/23. I wish we didn't have to start on a Friday!

Another teacher here! We come back from our trip on Sept. 1st and our school year starts Sept.5th so I've got to start thinking school soon so that I'm ready when we come back. This will be our first trip just before school starts so I'm not sure how it will feel knowing that when we return our summer's over.

Where I live, the kids start back August 28th. Of course, staff reports before that. Hope you have a great trip!

Greetings from a teacher in Jersey who lives for her summer vacation.
Our trip is from 8/15-8/22. I go back to school on 9/5, dd starts Kindergarten on 9/6. Needless to say I am dreaming of our Disney trip while dreading that depressing return to school. I am not doing any school preparation until we return. It would just kill the Disney vibes we've all got right now. I'll probably pick up a few things while we're on vacation, backpack for dd, pencils etc. I wish you all a magical vacation and great start to the school year for you and your children. pixiedust:
