August trip

Our trip is Aug. 16-22 and my boys go back to school on Aug. 25. Sounds like a lot of us are squeezing in last-minute summer trips!

Wow! We (DW DS and me)are going the 16th thru the 22 as well!

Another teacher here. Our trip is Aug. 12th-20th. I go back to school on Aug. 23rd and the kids start back on Aug. 30th. So we are shopping for our trip and school at the same time!

We live in Central Ohio and our trip is from 8-12 to 8-21 my DS10 starts school on 8-22.. He will be so tired.. flight doesnt get in until 7:30pm.. but we already lost a day on the begining of our trip because of flight changes so we didnt want to lose a day on the end also... We booked back in Feb.. long before the new school years dates came out.. We usually dont start back until the 23rd or 24th... Dont know what happened this year...
Just hoping there is no hurricane to delay our homecoming flight.. If so.. I guess he will miss the first day of fifth grade....

We'll be there August 7- 21 and both DD's start back to school on August 28th. I just finished school shopping yesterday. Our youngest DD's open house is on August 23 and we move our older DD back to college on August 27th. We'll have a few busy days when we return but I can't think about that now.


We're leaving for Disney in 7 days!!!

We head back to school the Thursday after Labor Day. We are heading down 8/21-8/27. I know that I will go back to school with some great stories to tell on the first day. When I ask the students to write about what they did on summer vacation, I will have a few of my own things to add.

Does anybody know if this is a busy time for the parks? We are traveling with a 4 year old and are alittle worried about long lines. Thanks

We are another family "sneaking" in a trip right before school starts

We will be at POFQ from 8/21-8/27. 12 YO DS will start 7th grade on 8/30 and 5 YO DD starts kindergarten on 9/5.

Greetings from a teacher in Jersey who lives for her summer vacation.

Needless to say I am dreaming of our Disney trip while dreading that depressing return to school. I am not doing any school preparation until we return.

Ditto again!! Can't even think about it now; it gets me depressed!!

We go to Disney Aug. 14-21 and our DD's go back to school Aug. 29. No school shopping yet....they get a list of school supplies they need the first day of school then every parent in the district is running to Walmart to find the items on the list. The crowds are worse than Disney vacationers rushing to their favorite ride when the park opens and drops the rope!

I did it last year. We got home the night before the first day of school. My mom thought I was a nuts for keeping them out late the night before the first day of school. Around here the first day of school = drop off your supplies, say hi, get to know each other, and leave w/in 2 hrs of getting there. It was really no problem for the kids. I had gotten EVERYTHING completely ready for school, packed in the backpacks and all. It was hard to get it done too because the trip was a surprise for the kids, they had no idea, I had to sneak their supplies into their backpacks so they wouldn't think anything was up. This yr, I didn't have the start date for the 2006-2007 school year when I booked, so I booked a week earlier (plus I'll be there for my bday) just in case. Now school starts the day after labor day and we get home late Saturday night the 19th

Us too! One look in our cart provided lots of laughs. Let's see, we need sunblock and blue jeans, flip flops and boots, then it became one for Disney, one for school. Our cashier said, "good grief, how many children do you have?"

I'm not sure how many rooms were set aside for Free Dining because it's been hard to get any changes made if you're on that special. We tried to upgrade a while ago and when I called they said that all the mods and deluxes were booked for our dates.

We are going August 22 thru 28th!!! CAN'T WAIT!! DGD and friend go back to school on the 6th of September. Have bought just the school supplies, ie. paper, pens, notebooks, etc. Will wait till after our trip to get her clothes. She will have to see what the others are wearing before she will buy anything!! Gotta love teenagers!!! lol

Thanks for the information. We have never gone this late in August and are hoping it won't be so crowded. I am anxiously awaiting August 12th so we may be on our way!! Hope everyone has a great trip
