August trip; reopenings

For various non-Disney reasons, we've had to reschedule our trip to the first week in August. I know that Guardians of the Galaxy opens in May, and the Electric Parade is running all summer, but what are the latest rumors on Fantasmic and the Railroad? I'd love both to be open, but I'd also rather not run into opening week crowds. Is there anything else I should know about that time of year, other than that it will be hot and crowded? Haunted Mansion doesn't shut down for refurb until mid-August, right?

The latest rumor I heard was that both would be open by the end of July, but I wouldn't say that's the most collectively accepted rumor out there.

I think maybe it's late August for HM ... we often go mid-August and have never run into it being closed. Went in early September once and it was closed.

you're right. Typically it's about two weeks before Labor Day, if I recall correctly.

For the last several years, Haunted Mansion has closed about 18-days before the start of HalloweenTime (it closed on August 22 last year).

If you want to see the MSEP make sure you book your trip in early to mid-August.

Just heard this rumor from someone at Disneyland this weekend that they heard from some of the engineers at New Orleans Square that Fantasmic!! reopens on July 15th and The Disneyland Railroad reopens on July 31st

I hope they are both open by the end of July as we have a short trip planned the last weekend in hopes of seeing those attractions since they are closed during our June trip (we assume). However, I wonder about the Railroad opening on a Monday. It seems that stuff usually happens on a weekend.

We're booked at the HOJO for the first week of August -- Disney-view room We've seen MSEP at MK, so it's not essential for us anyway. I would really like to see the RR up and running, and it's been a very long time since I've seen either version of Fantasmic. I'm guessing that booking the Fantasmic dining package as soon as it's announced would be a good idea? I would also love if Tom Sawyer Island was open, because the MK version was always a good escape from the crowds for my DS, but haven't seen any info about it reopening.
