August/September Disneyers...let's get in shape for our trip!!

Sorry to hear about that Cathy! Good job for not stress-eating. I'm working on that too! The last few nights I've been very busy with marking, which I used to make more bearable by treating myself to chips and candy. Not this week though! I haven't had a snack after dinner once!

Thanks Tara... Great job on not snacking after dinner. :worship:.. I still fine myself wandering around the kitchen looking in the pantry or fridge as though I am going to find some kind of answer to an unknown question.

I have to weigh in tomorrow... That inspired me to jump on the treadmill and walk 2 miles. I really want to reach 175 lbs. sometime in the next 4 days.

Weird thing is at 5'3" and 175 I fit in to size 12 dress pants now... I swear in my 20's I would have had to weigh about 140 to be in a size 12.. I really think the women's clothing industry is messing with our heads.

I agree - sizing is crazy. I wish it were a bit more standardized. Although I do have some stuff that goes the other way - I have a large sized skirt that fits wonderfully from several years ago yet in other brands I have more recently bought xxl skirts.

I am happy to report a 3lb loss this week bringing my total loss in 4 weeks to 11lbs. I'm now at 228. While I know I won't be down to 200 by the end of Sept, it seems that 210 could be a possibility.

Congratulations Stephanie and Cathy!!

I know what you mean about sizes. I went shopping last year for my birthday with my mom and sister and we laughed about how we I bought shirts in medium, large and extra large (different brands) that all fit perfectly! The size 12 pants thing is funny too. I feel like I've fit into 12s between 150 lbs and 190 lbs (I'm 5'5") depending on where I shop!

So, it is weight report day and I'm still doing my slow and steady thing. I'm down 1.8 lbs from last week to make me 183.2. That's the lowest I've seen in awhile.

Have a great weekend ladies!

Sizing is so out of control nowadays. I used to work in a clothing store in my local mall (american eagle, gotta love it!) and we would have people come in all the time and ask "What size is this, really?" and you have to tell people "No, it's really a 10, I promise" and they look at you like you're nuts, lol. I also read somewhere that Marilyn Monroe was a size 12...with a 23 inch waist :scared1: I'm not kidding, that is crazy! (I do love Marilyn Monroe, though, I can't help it!) So it goes to show you just how wacky sizing is. (In Marilyn's defense, she did have a 37 inch bust and 36 inch hips, so THAT'S not unreal)

Well, I'm glad to say I lost another 1.25 lbs :goodvibes It's not much, but it's a lot more than I would have lost if I hadn't had some awesome support. I made a vow to myself to work out at least three times this week by walking and doing 20 minutes of pilates with my DVD at home. If you've never done pilates, it's a lot of fun, but a lot of work. At first, it might not seem like you're working too much, but by the end of 20 minutes, I have worked up a serious sweat!

Kaiti, Tara and Stephanie... Way to go on all posting weight losses this week. :cool1:

I was 177 this morning and hope to be 175 by next Sunday. The nurse switched my diet to included 4 veggies per day, and removed cheese from the line-up. I am struggling to get in 4 veggie each day. If only corn and peas counted as veggies. I can only take so much raw brocolli and carrots. If I could season them it wouldn't be so bad.

I now have taken up looking at the Disboard threads with pictures of WDW food. I can not wait to be in my happy place.

PS... I meet my new boss tomorrow, hope it goes well. I haven't worked for a man in awhile, I hope he likes chocolate on a bad day too!

I'm starting this thread for all those who want to lose a few (or many) pounds in the next few months to get ready for DISNEY! I know there are others out there in my situation. The weight has been creeping on and all of a sudden you don't recognize the person in the mirror. (For me the mirror lies but when I see photos of myself...oh my!!)

Disney provides lots of photo opps AND you need to be in shape for all that park touring fun, right? So let's motivate each other to get going and get in shape!!! :thumbsup2

I think it's motivating to share stats and keep each other posted so here goes:

I'm 31, married mom of 2 (4 and 7) and 5'5. I was around 140 lbs 9 years ago on my wedding day and weighed in this morning at 189! My ultimate goal would be to see the 140s again. My goal for Disney (POP Century August 24-31) is to be down at least 20 lbs.

My DH is also overweight and hates the heat at his weight. He's going to be trying to lose 20-30 too before our trip. (He's 5'11, 255 lbs.) I'll keep you posted on his progress, too!

I would love to hear from others out there looking for support. I think we can help each other!!

Jumping on board!!! DH and I are going parasailing in September, tandem. We, collectively, have to weigh under 330 lbs. We're working on losing weight together. We're RIGHT at where we need to be (he's 167, I'm 163)... but we both want to lose weight so we have a bit of wiggle room. His goal is 160, my goal is 150. It seems like my body doesn't like being below 150 because I can't hold it there for long. I'm 5'6", 27 years old. SOOOooooo, it starts! 3 months-ish to lose 13 pounds. That's a LOT. :scared1: DH will have NO problem losing 7 lbs in 3 months.... I however..... :confused3

Welcome SDSorority! I totally think you can do it! 13 lbs in three months will take a lot of work but at just over 4 lbs/month, it's only 1 to 1.5 lbs a week. That's what I've been averaging without depriving myself too much. (Totally off junk food, soda and wheat and filling up on LOTS of veggies but other than that, not really calorie counting!) Exercise is obviously important too. I'm sure you know all of this!! Good luck and have fun with it! I'm finding it so rewarding to lose even a little at a time.

Cathy, I hope the new boss situation is good! Let us know how it is and also let us know when you hit 175! (I can't wait to see that number...it's on schedule for next month.)

Kaiti, congrats on the 1.25 lbs. It's great! I have never done pilates...it looks so hard! Keep up the good work!

Down to 161.8 this morning!!! :cool1:

Whoo-hoo!!!:cool1: I've always watched people do tandem parasailing and gone "How do they DO that?!" It always looks so cool :)

Tara, you should totally try Pilates. I've been using this dvd, and it's great. There are some tougher movies in the routine, but it really helps. I was able to wear a swim cover-up yesterday that I had NEVER been able to wear out in public because it wouldn't fit over my tummy. And yesterday it slid right over like it belonged there  I'm so happy with myself, and ALL you awesome ladies working out with me!!

Here's the link to the DVD I've been using:
http://www.amazon.com/Caribbean-Wor...HP92/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1308070666&sr=8-3

If you buy it brand new, it's $17...but if you buy used you can get it for $.89 :confused3 Go figure. But it works great. It's sold as a set with an aerobic routine dvd as well, and that one is great too. I just happen to like the pilates one better, haha.

It been a struggle with food the past few days. Not overeating too much but definitely more than I should. I think TOM has a lot to do with it right now but thankfully I haven't seen a gain on the scale.

Oh and here is the outfit I'm hoping to fit back into. It's simple vacation wear that hasn't been worn since 2005. The pic is from our may 2004 trip.

Tara, have you thought about being a coach on the BLC? The way you are on here makes me think you would be really good at it!

I have another link to tell you ladies about. There's a website called www.hungrygirl.com that has an email list you can sign up for. In the email, the woman who owns/runs the show provides swaps for popular recipes, low-cal options for favorite foods, and a TON of tips on how to eat healthier in general. She's also published like, 5 cookbooks with healthy swaps and new recipes. It's free to sign up too!

I've been doing pretty good with food this week, and with exercising. I even got in a few minutes of pilates before work today. And I decided what my short-term reward will be. I've wanted a Peter Pan-esque tattoo for a while, and would LOVE to have it done before we go in September. And if I reach my goal of 167, I will get it done.

Does that seem extreme? It's about 23lbs to lose, so I don't know if I should shorten my goal a little bit...What do you guys think??

Thanks for saying that Kaiti! To be honest, I haven't been good about following the BLC chat. Too many posts! I've been sending my weight to Donna on Fridays but that's it. I feel like this thread offers more support for me...so it's where I spend my DIS time. You could be a coach too though! Have you been keeping up with the BLC posts?

About the tattoo...I think it's a great reward but it sounds like 23 lbs by September might be a challenging goal. I'm no longer a believer in crash diets (after losing then gaining back double way too many times!) But it's a great idea to get the tattoo you want before your trip. I have an idea to get another tattoo once I reach and maintain my forever weight for awhile (I think 140-145.) My goal is to be something below 170 (that's 12 to 13 lbs away) for my August trip and my reward for that will be vacation clothes!

Speaking of vacation clothes, that's such a cute pic you posted Stephanie! I know you'll get back into that outfit! At first I was going to ask you who Tom was but I get it now. I'm in the same boat this week but also haven't gained like I usually do when I'm retaining water and feeling miserable, etc. Yay for us!

Everyone's doing great! Keep up the great work SDSorority! How's the new boss Cathy?

I've been keeping up with the posts as much as possible...but it's dizzying to track all the people! I like posting on there because everybody is really supportive and it gives me someone else to be accountable to. That helps a lot. But I think you're right, this thread I feel is a little more personal/intimate. I love sharing with you ladies!

I thought so about the 23lbs....I do want to lose as much as possible before my trip, it's just that 23lbs sounded like a LOT to lose. I'm thinking 15 sounds a lot more manageable and realistic. Now I just have to start planning it out!!

I think 15 sounds like a very realistic goal. And if you lose more than that, you'll feel even better. Even though I lost 10lbs in the first month I'm realistically leaving my goal at 20lbs total even though I'm hoping/thinking I'll lose more than that but won't feel defeated if I only lose 1lb a week or have some where I stay the same.

Today was super tough. I really wanted to just eat a bag of chocolate. Thankfully I didn't have a bag of chocolate handy. Headache and cramps made worse by a computer that refused to multitask or send emails with attachments without making me wait forever. I'm ready for bed right now but I still need to make and eat dinner with DH. At least tomorrow is Thursday and that means the work week is almost over. I have a CLE most of the day tomorrow so other than dealing with any emails that come in, I won't have to deal with work much. And I'm getting a new book for my Kindle to occupy me during the CLE :goodvibes

Keep up the good work, everybody!!

Down to 160.8 this morning!! :goodvibes :cool1:  :cheer2: :woohoo:

Even with the rough week I've had, I still managed to lose 1lb. I'm so excited!

Yay Stephanie and SDSorority! Great job! I'll post my weight tomorrow since I have to report to Biggest Loser Challenge then.

Kaiti - 15 lbs is a great goal. One to two pounds a week is a perfect, realistic goal. For me personally if I make a goal too hard and then the diet has to be too restrictive, I wouldn't do it at all. I've been averaging about 1.5 lbs a week for a few weeks fairly easily and am really happy with that even though it's a
s l o w process. But this way, I won't yo-yo back up, right?!?! That's the plan!

I just looked at the calendar and 1.5 lbs per week gets me to my forever weight of 140 lbs around New Year's Eve! I didn't even plan that! I know it seems like a long time away and I definitely have smaller goals in the meantime but oh my gosh, that would be SUCH a dream come true!!!

-Tara

PS. I'm now using the term "forever" weight instead of "goal" weight because I've reached goal weights before then gained much more back again. So I'm changing my mentality about diets. Now I have to reach my forever weight and once I'm there it will be the weight I intend to keep for the rest of my life. Is that corny?

That is an awesome idea!! And so not corny at all! I love when you can find what works for you, and not feel like you have to fit a One Size Fits All mold. I know I have to break my forever weight down into goals- I have the tendency to not see the forest through the trees, ykwim?

I'm kinda nervous about weigh-in tomorrow, but I have been really good this week and drinking all my water and working out. I even went swimming two days this week! (And by swimming, I mean treading water and kicking my legs, haha. It was still a workout though!) I still have to walk tonight, I can't wait!

How is everyone else doing? Cathy, how do you like your new boss?? Is he as supportive as your old boss in your weight-loss efforts? (I hope so!)
