August - September 2013 Room-only Discounts

Typo. ASMo is 5%. ASMu is 20%. This is exactly why I ask people not to cut and paste off my site: I make dumb mistakes sometimes. :)

(((hugs))) Mary. Love your site. Refer everyone to it. Had both disboards and mousesavers open side by side this morning!!! :thumbsup2

Just booked using room only discount. Had existing reservation which I had to modify by one day for airline reasons, applied discount no problem to Disney Visa. Had to refund the previous one to the non Disney Visa card and apply new one, no problem. I was only on hold 15 minutes at 9 am eastern time. I was worried it was going to be a few hours, but not the case. Call taker was awesome and knew exactly what to do, no confusion. Saved just under a thousand if I did the math correctly. Woohoo!!!!! :yay:

We are staying at the Poly 9/7-9/15 in a standard view room. We got FD booked this morning, which saved us about $1,027. I am just now realizing that people are also talking about this room discount being offered. Since we have an entire Magic Your Way Package Plus Dining with Park Hoppers Vacation booked, would this 20% discount still be applicable to our reservation? Because my math tells me that savings would actually be about $1,203, which would be an additional $176 in savings. I have never booked these types of things before and know you can only do one or the other, but it this the way it works and should I ask my travel agent to call back and change our discount to the RO instead of the FD?

Big thanks to Joe and everyone else who came forward with this info in advance! Made all the waiting worth it! Got 30% off room! I would have never known. Still not posted on visa web site.....I booked directly thru Disney so no TA to give me the heads up otherwise. Thank you thank you thank you!

I was able to change my Contemporary BLV from AAA to the DV discount for 8/15-8/17. The discount for this room only was only 25% vs the 30% on the summer discount I got for 8/12-8/15 though. Paying $25 a night more.

Many times if staying at a Deluxe Resort the savings with a RO Discount is better than FD, I would have the TA check on it, sometimes you might have to upgrade the catagory of the room so the saving is not there but I would definitely check.

Had complete faith in you Joe! Just saved a large chunk of money off my YC stay in Sept. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU:cheer2:!!

Thanks

And yes, it seems like these discounts were totally overlooked. How could anyone overlook our dear August travel friends? :cool1:

Why is there a difference between ASMu and ASMo? Is it the suites at ASMu that are discounted?

Disney only discounts rooms it cannot sell at full price. I always say that these offers are like a clearance sale at a department store. If you want the discount, you have to take what's left. Obviously ASMu has sold better than ASMo for some reason. There could be a large group staying at ASMu and taking up many of the rooms, for example.

As far as I've heard so far, discount is 5% at ASMu, including on family suites.

OH...so it was less at Music than a movies? Well, good. I was thinking I got a worse discount at movies. pixiedust:

Wait...all postings are saying Movies is the 5%, Music is 20%. Including your site, Mary.

I am interested in booking for five nights starting Sept 27, room only using Disney Visa. My understanding is that only the first two nights, Sept 27 and Sept 28 would be discounted and then we would pay rack rate for the last two nights.

Can anyone verify? THANKS

Ack, nevermind, I had that totally backward. In my defense, been up since 4:30 my time and just took first break for coffee. :)
