Loved the report and your pictures! I was on this cruise too, though I don't think we ever got a chance to meet. Did you bring a GPS unit with you to record the latitude/longitude? Or did you just get it from the ship update channel on the TV? I didn't remember seeing that. I had wondered if we got below the 7 degree north latitude...thank you for recording it! Did you happen to see the total number of miles sailed from Los Angeles by chance? I missed it.
The ??? locks in order, were Miraflores (the first two), Pedro Miguel (one), then under the Centennial Bridge, through the Gaillard Cut, into Gatun Lake, and the Gatun Locks (the last three). I also was on deck all day, but I had late seating so I got to watch the whole way through the Gatun locks. Loved it!
Disney didn't build the airstrip on
Castaway Cay, it was built many years ago by the man who owned it at the time. The island does have a colorful history, just not the one Disney tells you about. Somewhere on these boards is a thread that has a link to an article written by a descendant of that first owner.
