August- GET EXCITED!!

august tenth for me! :goodvibes and i am pumped! me and my roommate are hoping for chatham. *crosses fingers*

ps Im excited to see someone else from the west coast. Im from Oregon...but am taking this experience to become a southern belle

This made me chuckle :)
Most of the Southern states don't count Flordia as being a part of the South, well at least not the southern half of state (the panhandle can be very southern). I was looking forward to going to Orlando, to get away from Southern culture for 5 months.

Anywho I check in Aug 10, too.
I just have to make it through my last two summer class...speaking of which I should stop surfing the DIS and get back to my paper.
I can't wait to meet everyone though.

ha ha ha that made me smile :D this last spring semester i did a lot of surfing on the DIS and other sights instead of working on papers.

Awesome! Congrats everyone! I'm going to apply for this next Spring. I'm going to finish up this semester at my Community College for now. Haha

Savannah...
I have a friend who lives in Tampa and he told me the same thin gthat Orlando isn't part of the south but Disney World isn't in Orlando :)

And my sister lives in Kissimmee and when you get away from the big city that is Orlando things like food and people get a bit more Southern.

I also talked it over with a friend from Louisiana, who is truley southern and he gave me his blessing in my endevour for southernness- and I hope to visit some of the real South.

btw Where are you from?

I'm from South Florida, and it's definitely true that the more north you go, the more "southern" you get  Orlando is very much a big metropolitan city, but if you head out towards the coastlines in either direction or further north you will find it to be at least somewhat "south". :thumbsup2

I was an army brat but when I was 10 my parents decided to retire in the great state of Alabama (Ozark)
Most of my friend tease me about how unsouthern I am (they all laughed when I took a facebook quiz to find out if I was an alabamian, and the quiz called me a yankee).
The South truly is a beautiful area of the country, you will love it.
I think that people from Southern states like Alabama joke FL does not count because as my friends said "restaurants don't serve sweet tea after you get past a certain point" I am lucky, in that my hometown is less that hour away from flordia so I get to travel down a great bit. I just love flordia because it is maintained much more than say alabama or georgia, like when we drive down to Disney you know when you get past Tallahassee because things start getting a lot nicer.
You will most def be within driving distance to southern culture filled spots.
That has to be awesome having family so close, while you are on the CP! Can't believe it is only 17 days away, it will be awesome to meet you!
