Is anyone else struggling finding prices for August. 3 adults and 1 ch and Virgin asking nearly £4k !!!!!! What's going on?

Seems to be the norm for VA flights now, no way would I pay it, for PE they are asking £4,144.17 for 3 of us. Thankfully I found a date suitable for reward seats and used some miles costing me £780, £3364 saving but used loads of miles.
If I had not found those I would be waiting for indirect deals. Virgin have the Manchester route sewn up, its them or indirect so they can charge silly prices.

VA are bonkers with their pricing in the school holidays.

We wanted to go in Easter, they want almost £2700 EACH in Economy for the dates we wanted. We paid just under £430 for the same dates going indirect (1 stop each way), saving us £4500 :confused3 :rotfl::rotfl: Even compromising on the dates, the cheapest they could offer us was almost £1300. Guess people must be paying it..?!?!

Look elsewhere.

We had to book charter flights for next july. We usually fly out of manchester on virgin but next year we are flying thomsom from ema. cost 2300 for 4Adults which was about half virgin, hope it works out OK:eek:

Thts very good. May look into tht.

We have always been big fans of Virgin due to their excellent special assistance program but I wouldn't hesitate to go elsewhere and indirect if the price was right.
But as said previously people must be paying it as they continue to charge what seem to be ridiculously high prices

Try fly thomas cook charter to Sanford, we got ours for around £2000 for 3 of us. Also got 10% discount with bank travel scheme.:surfweb:

Thanks for the replies - glad it's not just me that thinks it's really bad. Will look around at some of the suggestions made but I guess Virgin have me because I don't fancy the idea of indirect with DS6 and dislike the drive from Sanford!!

Is it likely that cheaper fares will be released or will it just get worse? Same dates 1/8 to 18/8 have gone up from 3880 to 4200

:scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:

I'm looking for flights for 21st July- 11th August. I live in Northern Ireland and will probably have to lave from Dublin for a good price. Flight prices are just getting more and more crazy!

£2,487.00 GBP for us 3 and they only do 21 nights, not the 24 or 25 nights we go for in summer. Charter rarely fit for us unfortunately.

Always possible VA might reduce prices but I would think you would have to be very patient and wait months, then there is chance they will sell well and just keep rising, no-one can know.
We have been taking DS indirect since he was 5, would never tie myself to Virgin's prices.

When do they normally release in direct flight prices Wayne ????

General rule is 11 months from your return date but some airlines like BA release a little earlier. Just do a search on VA and you can see the dates you can book upto.

yep looked on Virgin I think they are having a laugh at the moment :rotfl:

The trouble is that they're having a laugh but winning too! Prices might go up too! I can't get charter to fit my dates as we're going for 3 universal plus 14 Disney nights and have already booked a good deal on accommodation through Complete Orlando.

Thats not bad but we would have to then get to ireland and not a nice thought with a four year old.
Dont mind indirect at all. I remember a certain burty basset having cheap flights last year booked around april/may time:lmao: They were less than £400 each if I remember right thanks to Wayne. I looked end July for flights going mid august and there were indirect for between £500-£600.I will take the chance and wait as our dates are flexible after 12th august as long as we are back by the 3rd September.

Well they do fly from many UK airports, we flew with them from Glasgow via dublin to MCO last year and this year we are going from Edinburgh.

You clear immigration at dublin so we will I hope be on our way to our resort pretty quickly after landing in MCO.

The wait at dublin on the way out is only 3hours but on the way back its 5 but to be honest for the price we paid which was around £1400 at the most for both of us its really not an issue.
