August car rental rates

Go through BJ"s. You don't need a membership number to reserve a car with Alamo.

I will be getting my membership before I travel. The rate is worth it.

I reserved a Ford Escape for early Aug 16th-late Aug 28th for $322 including all taxes. With the membership it brings the cost up a little.

I will keep searching to see if there is something better.

I got a great deal (I think)...2 weeks - Aug 20 to Sep 3. Intermediate, no counter, pick any car from the aisle, total with all fees and surcharges is $331....

Wow, and I just got a great deal with Alamo for my dates. One week (Aug. 12-19) I just got a minivan for $226 (total = $298) which I'm happy with for a minivan. If the coupon had worked, that would've been another $30 off, but the coupons for Alamo/National are still not working for MCO. Hopefully it will later and I can apply it to my reservation, which sometimes works. I just cancelled my minivan with Budget for the same price. I would rather use Alamo over Budget, but would prefer National overall (that's where I'm the happiest -- Ex. Aisle member).

Try going to www.Budget.com using these codes: BCD X474200 (public travelocity code) and coupon code MUGZ029 fpr $30 off at time of return if its in good condition. THese are the rates I just found at MCO thru Budgets site. Compact $195 (264 with tax), Econo $205 (275 with tax), Prmium/Standard SUV/Minivan $225 (299 with tax) and you get $30 back at return.

I would also like to know how you got this rate, I tried for Aug 11-20 and got a rate of $524, thats $50 higher than my Budget rate.

I didn't use anything special. I think it's just my dates and times because I was changing the times and different vehicles come up available.

I used 7015504, or 430710, it just didn't matter which current code I used, I got the same price each time.

However, my coupon still does not work. It's my dates that are not available because if I changed my dates to Aug. 19-26 with my exact times and the coupon works for that week, not the week I'm going.

I think this is an availability issue. My friend tried the end of August and got a great price on a mid-size SUV. Good luck. (BTW-- I just did your dates for noon pickup and drop off and got a total of $443 w/o any coupon).....hmmm, maybe you need to empty your cookies or reboot?

Thanks for the info, the $534 price was including tax, with the prepay option it would have brought the price down $43. I just checked Thrifty because that is my favorite company to rent from, got a mini van from Aug 11-20 for $443 after tax, that is $229 a week, $36 a day. My Budget was $472 with the BCD X474200 code and the #MUGZ029 coupon. So almost $30 savings. I will keep watching it, with any luck the price will come down some more.

I have a rental from Dollar for 8/18 - 8/28 for a mid size car. I first used some codes from BJ's etc. Then tried NO CODE and up popped a city special at the airport . Mid size $119.54 per week / Base rate $176.27 + all fees and taxes = $253.51

Mid-size SUV through Alamo @ $250 (used code for a $25 discount booked 7/6).

All prices are with taxes and fees. Obviously the first two I probably won't be using. Not sure why the mid-size SUV came up as the cheapest car available (cheaper than economy cars) today, but I jumped on it.

I'm hoping to get a similar deal like I did two weeks ago in Oakland CA, I got a 4 day rental $44 total with taxes, full size car!!

I am going 8/1-8/12 and I started a bit late trying to reserve. I have at least 6 ressies going from a high of $650 (full size) all the way down to $311 which I got this morning from Expedia which ended up Thrifty. Check them as they are having a one day sale today.

My recent lower prices have been mid-size SUVs as well so one of the companies must have lowered their prices on that size and the rest are following suit. I have had no luck with Priceline and have been trying for about a month. Hotwire has also been outrageous.

My coupon does not work for my dates, so can't apply that, but if I was going a week later, the coupon works. I arrive on your departure day (8/12-8/19) so a 1 week rental.
